If they grab the top spot in the metro they will have earned it, but it really sucks to feel like the rangers have been playing well since the all star break and still see the position they’ve held all year be in jeopardy. I’m pretty sure that neither team really wants Philly in the first round and would much rather Washington pass Philly for 3rd.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying Philly beats either Carolina or New York in a 7 game series, but every game those two teams have played against Philly this year so far have been wars. Couple of those Carolina/Philly games were a blast to watch, Philly took one against Carolina and that last game against Philly for New York with the Deslauriers/Rempe war that happened? The last two games against Philly, you can arguably say Philly outplayed the Rangers and the only reason they won was Igor.
Neither team escapes that series unscathed.
Philly was supposed to be a lottery team this year. Of all the teams heading in to the playoffs in the eastern conference, they have the least pressure by a comfortable margin. Everyone else in the party is supposed to be here.
Never underestimate the team with nothing to loseand whether you like him or hate him, there aren’t many coaches that use the us against the world tactic better than Torts.
