I already see the comments about the penalty kill. The Leafs are not going to use him over McCabe, Brodie, Bush, or Benoit. Hes going to play a limited role.

Brodie could be traded for a righty now. Add a prospect like Robertson, something could be done there.

Everyone keeps saying Edmundson hits a lot, but he only averages 1.3 hits a game. So they paid a 3rd and a 5th for 1 more hit a game?
If Edmunson is replacing Benoit, then I get it, but if that's not what's happening then I don't understand the cost. I would rather Tree, after aquiring Boosh, had closed up shop & kept his assets, but he likes big physical D & Edmunson is certainly that. You're going to have to play him with a D who can break the puck out.

Leafs are one of the worst penalty kills in the league lol – yes they will use him there.
This isn’t the best trade trade in my opinion, losing two draft picks for a top 6 d when we need a top 4 dman more then anything. On the bright side Joel is a physical defensemen who blocks shots and likes to hit, and he’s still in his prime.
Time will tell whether it was worth losing a two draft picks.
Thank you for the content, Andrew. I like this trade as I recall playing Montreal in the playoffs and Chairot/Edmundson gave us fits and bruises. I feel this provides us with another player that will lessen the intimidation factor that is evident in the playoffs (especially in the East).

I thought they would at least pick up a stay home work horse type D man who can block shots eat up minutes a guy that makes very little mistakes a shut down D man can sometimes help on PK right shot is preference but dont get fancy just get a guy that can do the job right
