Penguins Postgame: Disappointment, prospects and what comes next

  1. I still wanna see Poulin and Ponamorov and maybe even Blomqvist for a few games at the end of the season. Especially since we are out of it now.

  2. Just watch Malkin on goal 4. Not moving his legs to defend. Coasting. In a parity league, either you really want it, or you lose. Not sure if Malkin was tired, but he did not even try to engage. Not to blame it all on him. But this core is spent. And Letang is playing aweful. Sorry. Wheels are off. Keep Karlson, trade Letang (if you can)

  3. Fifth stage…good reference. Tough for former champs to accept being a rebuilding team. Hard to accept. But the time has arrived. The core can’t elevate enough to win consistently. It happens. Dubas and Fenway waited a bit too long to see it. But it is time to accept it and move on. Problem is, there is no Crosby or Lemieux to pick at 10th pick.

  4. 4 guys we need to unload are Rakell, Smith, PO & Graves. We pull off that miracle and replace them with competency….it's a different team.

  5. It would be nice if malkin and crosby show up at the same game. If ones good, the other disappears. The first line couldn't complete tape to tape passes and crosby seemed agitated and annoyed by it.

  6. I think last seasons challenging situation at the end was the indicator that some changes were needed. Losing to the worst team in the league at home with the playoffs on the line is what it is. The first half of your season you deserved more points than you earned, but that’s how it goes sometimes. At least your gm is focusing on the right things. The coming seasons should be better.

  7. I really love your work….just discovered this a couple weeks ago…will watch every game analysis from here on out…Dubas hit the nail on the head, we need to get younger…hopefully he has the guts to do it…we need youth that
Is hungry and energetic…my problem is that i dont think HCMS is the guy to lead a youth movement

  8. 1 goal in the last 14 for Sid and 5 in the last 35 for Malkin. Tear it down. These guys are cooked.

  9. Hi there. Enjoy your commentary. I agree the problem isnt the System..It's the players. If you want to play good D, you need good D men. I think Dubus has been horrible so far. He's acquired the kinds of players we already had instead of the ones we needed..D has been the problem for a long time now and the reason that we never get out of the first round and now dont even get in. Ed

  10. Is the disconnect between player ability and deployment? Is the system in place one that fits the abilities of this current roster? There is no continuity across lines.

  11. All lions get old and it happens in a NY minute, in other words at a certain point the game leaves everyone behind. Yes, something can be done but the margins are now very small. No longer can 2-3 players put the team on their back and overcome bad play.

  12. Sometimes stars as they age fear giving their best, because maybe their best is not good enough and they will have to admit their time in the NHL is coming to an end. Pitt still has stars that if the right players are put around them can still be a great team.

  13. I like how we are still evaluating these veterans on a team that has obviously quit. There are but a few that give 100% anytime they are on the ice. Crosby is one that comes to win every shift. Malkin only plays 30% of the time and letang is obviously going through the motions. Karlson and Graves are a complete joke and have been since joining this team. Bring us young, fast, physical prospects that play inspired and with a passion for the game. I feel Sid still has a few years. Put some youth around him and lets see what we find. Move out the old and overpaid.
