  1. 1) Ott should keep Korpi for 1 year. Other things need fixing first.

~ No sense trading for yet another avg goalie (ex: Cam Talbot), that puts the team in the same position but less cap space…

    2) Trading Chabot & Chycrun while their value is high in the off season should be considered.

~ I'd love to free up slots to give Branny a better role and opportunity on the team. This on its own is not enough, so consider this + the potential value Chabot & Chycrun would bring (A solid RH D and forward as an example)

Note: I like Chycrun, and love Chabot and will miss both of them. The return would have to be huge for this to work.

  2. GSG.. But it should not. Id be ok with giving him a supporting role next season if we can trade Forsy, but if not id get whatever we could for him and move on.

  3. I’ve been saying all year, I still believe there’s hope for Korpi. I feel like most of his issues stem from the mental side of the game. I think a really good sports psychologist could help him.

Also, everyone always points out he has bad positioning, which I do agree with. But I think that is something that can be improved, despite him being almost 30. He’s gonna be forced to sorta “reinvent” himself. So old dogs better figure out how to learn new tricks.

Edit: I’m not saying Korpi can turn into an all star goalie. Just that he can be a decent NHL goalie if things go right for him.

  4. I went down to the Piller family farm last weekend. Turns out all 50,000 of their chickens are named Jacob.

  5. If the Sens buyout Korpisalo, they take a cap hit that averages $1,333,333 a year, for eight years. That adds up to a total of $10,666,664 wasted cap dollars. Is that better than sending him to Belleville? If they bury the contract, they get $1,150,000 in cap relief for the remaining four years of the deal. So, they incur a cap hit of $2,850,000 for four years, which adds up to $11,400,000. For an extra $733,336 they get out of the contract sooner, and still control the player, which is a plus if he miraculously turns his game around.

  6. Idealy I'd like to see the Sens trade Korpi and keep Forsy. Forsy rehabbed all last summer, id like to see him after a summer of working out instead. I believe the Sens are looking at keeping Korpi and trading or buying out Forsy. I'll cheer on Korpi next season if he's back. I'd love for him to figure it out. The whole team has been bad this season. Stating the obvious but extremely important summer coming up

  7. Forsberg is gone imo, they brought in Justin Peters for a reason they will give Korpi 1 more year and an offseason and training camp to work with Justin Peters. They cant keep running 1 year with these goalies and then shipping them off lets see what Korpi can do with another year. My opinion is not swayed with Korpi you can't buy him out under no circumstances. You either work him into a trade somehow not likely to happen or you run it back with him as the 1B and you either get a 1A or the Sens go out and like we've seen with some other teams they sign 2 goalies at 1 million dollars and hope 1 hits. Then you would have Korpi 2 goalies at 1mil, Sogaard, Merilainen, and Mando in the minors which gives them a lot of options 1 would have to hit and they can figure it out after that cost would be less so I wouldn't be surprised to see the Sens go down this route

  8. I think Pillzy is right. My opinion, give Korpi another year and trade away Forzy. I'd get either Mads or another youngish guy or an established backup to come in an challenge Korpi for starter position. Forzy could be great if he was consistent but at this point, he's tradeable as a solid potential back-up goalie somewhere else. Those cap savings can go to the new guy.

And then you fix the other big issues: Another top 4 RHD to help Zub. Do right by Branny and trade him somewhere where he might get used appropriately. Bring in an old vet in on a PTO to challenge Kleven for the 3rd pairing spot so he has earn it and not just by default. And get a fast winger to play on the 3rd line (Mathieu Joseph #2).

  9. Bring in an actual quality goalie, trade Chycrun or Chabot to make it happen. Korpi can stay as the backup.

  10. lol he has one great game and now it’s “keep him”…… nahhhhh
Korpi gotta go ,hopefully he has a few more good games and we won’t lose as much money moving him.

  11. No. His play last night doesn't change my mind whatsoever. We don't pay him that much, for that term, to have 1-2 game spurts, and half a season of total garbage. It's not even a debate. I'm buying him out. This was his chance to be the starter with good enough term to get Merilinen ready for the NHL. If it costs like 2M more for a John Gibson, I'm sorry but I'll take Gibson anyday of the week. We don't pay 4M for a bottom of the league goalie. He still has to go. He has costs a lot more games than he has won, and that's not a good stat at all.

  12. Regardless what happens during the end of the season. You have to try Korpisalo next year. Goalies are like voodoo magic he could come back and be incredible you never know with goalies. Give him at least the start of next season before anything drastic like a buyout.
