How the Bruins came back against the Panthers and actually closed out a win
On this night it was the Bears who came back and closed out the cats in what was probably the biggest win of the Season thus far for the Boston Bruins a major statement made and we’re going to talk about it on today’s episode of Locked on Boston Bruins you’re locked on Bruins your

Bets with any winning $5 bet that’s 200 bucks if your bet wins visit fanduel.com lockon to get started again my name is Ian McLaren a lifelong Bruins fan been covering this team for various outlets for about 20 years uh covering the NHL as a whole for the
Past 10 and excited to get into today’s topic which is a massive massive win over the Florida Panthers last night for our Boston Bruins quick reminder before that you can find the podcast on social media at locked NHL Bruins and you can find me my hockey thoughts dad jokes ATC
McLaren although taking a little bit of a break because uh X is a bit unhinged these days anyways the Bruins last night defeating the Florida Panthers and it was a huge statement game for the black and gold if you recall yesterday I discussed how head coach Jim Montgomery yelled at the Bruins in
Practice on Monday cursing them out making them bag skate basically saying he hated the way they started practice he hated the way they ended Saturday’s loss to the Philadelphia flyers and that this team was not play off ready they come out and make a huge statement against the team that knocked them out
Of the playoffs last season on the road in Florida battling back after going down in this one three separate times coming out with the win things did not get off to a great start Evan Rodriguez scored 27 seconds seconds into the game and the Bruins yeah everybody had a bit
Of a pit in their stomach thinking oh no this game is not going to go the right way there’s a few significant aspects of this game that we need to talk about before we get into the particulars of how it all went down the Bruins not
Only came back on the road and won but they were able to keep the cats at Bay in the final minutes how many of us thought all right the Bruins go up the Panthers pull the goalie Sergey bosski they bring out the extra man we’ve seen it so many times before this
Season where the opposing team ties the game up late in the third period things go to overtime or a shoot out and the Bruins end up losing the Bruins were able to keep the cats at Bay over the final two minutes of this one to secure the win after Pavo zaka scored the
Gamewinner uh with about two and a half minutes remaining in the game some amazing plays made in the final couple minutes hampus Lindholm with some Big Blocks the Bruins were able to clear the Zone which they hadn’t been able to do previously in some of these games and
Closed it out and it was a huge statement for the Boston Bruin Jim Montgomery after the game said you know in three weeks this goes to another level and he liked the way the Bruins kept competing they battled for each other they were in every battle all Five
Guys on the ice stuck together and that’s what they needed Jeremy swan made 19 saves for the Bruins they were coming off two losses in a row and he said this was a special momentum builder for the Bruins It prepares them for what to expect the next games to finish out the regular
Season plus the playoffs the Panthers are a very good team and it gives them a boatload of confidence he said moving forward in what they need to do to prepare themselves for the playoffs uh it was an important win for the Bruins Pavo zaka said they know the
Panthers are a very good team they know better than anybody what the Panthers are capable of and it was like a playoff game and winning those is really important for the Bruins to build their game moving forward from the panther side of things their head coach Paul
Marce said it it was such a good hockey game one you want to win especially when you get the lead like that how many times have we seen the Bruin take leads and then give them up they were on the other side of things here going down
Battling back each time not allowing it to get to a two- goal lead for the Panthers some key saves but by Jeremy swam and I believe when it was 2-1 Panthers had some great chances to make it 3-1 he kept them out um from Florida’s perspective
Maurice was saying you want to close it out but sometimes suffering a bit is good sometimes it’s good to put that much effort and get nothing he’s not complaining about the game it was a good game that they have been it was as good of a game as they’ve been part of in
Terms of speed and physicality a good test for both teams um and the Bruins coming off those two losses one to the Rangers one of the Flyers battling back three separate occasions and finally coming out with the two points just huge for the Boston ruins they now sit two points clear of
Florida for first in the Atlantic although Florida does have one extra game on the schedule or one game in hand I should say the Bruins only have nine games left the Panthers have 10 the Bruins are now one point back of the New York Rangers for first overall
The Rangers clinching a playoff spot last night the Bruins are tied with the Stars for second overall so again we’re not talking necessarily about a push to win the president’s trophy we’re not necessarily even focusing on first place in the Atlantic or first in the East
What we’re looking for from this team is some fight some push back and some of that playoff intensity that you need in order to succeed I tweeted ex whatever during the game that the Bruins just seem to be lacking it and you know that was before Brad Marshon dropped the
Gloves and fought against a much bigger player in niik Mika that’s the kind of stuff I don’t need Brad Marshon fighting necessarily but that intensity standing up for his teammates grinding going up against a much bigger guy in Mika it certainly rallied his team now you
Wouldn’t you’d like to see him not take that penalty in the third period an interference penalty against Gustav forsling but marshan stepped up got the primary assist on the game-winning goal and some other guys stepped up as well guys that you want to see playing at a high level as the
Playoffs approach and uh we’ll talk about exactly how the Bruins beat the cats here coming up as the podcast continues if you’re looking to level up your ride there’s no better place to check out than ebaymotors.com passion drive and patience what brings home the winning trophy is also what keeps your

Game were dead even at 21 the Florida Panthers kind of had the edge when it comes to the underlying stats at five on five they had over 60% of the shot attempts uh shots were dead even five on five at 14 a piece but scoring chances
Were uh 20 to3 in favor of Florida 97 in favor of the Panthers in terms of high danger chances and expect the goals they had a slight Advantage as well 2.09 compared to 1.49 for the Boston Bruins in all situations not much different they had uh 60% of the scoring chances and high
Danger chances and 61.7% of the shot attempts so the Bruins were getting out there there they were blocking shots they were making things somewhat difficult for the uh for the Panthers the Bruins had an advantage in Block shots 19 to nine the Bruins also had an advantage in hits
5243 that perhaps is a function of Florida having the puck a bit more when you have possession like that when The Possession numbers are in your favor the hits tend to be more in favor of the opposition because perhaps they’re chasing things and the Bruins were
Chasing this game for most of the night I mentioned rodrig scored 27 seconds in thankfully Charlie McAvoy Unleashed a bomb pass bosski late in the first to tie things up but unfortunately they allowed a goal just over a minute later Sam Reinhardt working hard scoring his
51st goal of the year to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes very deflating to watch I’m sure it was deflating for the players but David poock 16 minutes into the second period scores his 45th to tie things up fantastic until Carter vergy scored his
33rd of the goal halfway through the third period and it looked as though the Bruins were perhaps destined to to drop this key game and raise even more questions about whether they’re ready for the playoffs whether they’re built for the playoffs whether they’re physical enough whether they have enough push back again
Even I was questioning if they have that it Factor but as fate would have it in the third period Evan rodrig um took a delay of game penalty and it was Trent Frederick who scored the game wi or sorry game tying power play goal from Brad Marshon and
Jeremy swam and even got the secondary assist on that one as well Frederick with a massive goal his 18th of the Season primary assist from Brad Marshon who again had shown some legitimate fight earlier in the game by dropping the gloves with the much bigger player and then just two
Minutes and 1 second later David aposto threw the puck towards the net it found Pavo zaka banked in past uh Sergey bosski for the game winning goal the Bruins had two minutes of extended time where they had to um defend in a goalie pulled situation it’s not uh something where they have
Necessarily th D so far this season but thankfully the Bruins were able to keep them at Bay again some key blocked shots in this one one by hampus Lindholm very late in the third period and another by uh who else um yeah hampus lindol had a block
Just some key plays for the Boston Bruins down the stretch uh in terms of blocked shot shots and um Zone exits as well Zone clearances which had been a problem earlier on in the uh in the season there’s been so many times where the Bruins have had the
Lead and then gone on to to lose straight up and that didn’t happen last night the Bruins showed a lot of resolve they showed a lot of um tenacity they showed a lot of of push back and did not allow the uh the Panthers to tie this up did
Not allow them to take this game in the end the Bruins getting the win the two points a huge statement game for this team over a very very good team in the Florida Panthers like let’s not pretend ourselves and think Florida’s probably not a bit better and
Deeper than our Bruins but Boston was able to get the job done and broke the tie at the top of the division albe it with the Panthers having one game in hand now David poshak he now has 45 goals 56 assists he’s the fifth player in Bruin’s history to have
Consecutive 100o Seasons joining Bobby y who did it six times Phil ESP bazito did it five times Adam OES Barry pson doing it twice he now has 113 points uh sorry he had 113 points last season so a bit behind that pace but still having a fantastic year more assists this year
Than he had all of last season Charlie McAvoy hit the 10 goal Mark for the second time in his career likely to set a new career high here hopefully before it’s all said and done and uh again the big guys stepped up Marshon poock makoy uh Pavo zaka as
Well love to see those guys stepping up and securing this win for the Boston Bruins and they don’t have time to enjoy it because they’ll be back on the ice tonight down the road in Tampa and that’s a game we’ll preview here as the podcast continues

In on the action with respect to the Bruins Celtics Red Sox with MLB beginning this week as well America’s number one sports book over at FanDuel check it out today the Bruins facing a back-to-back situation tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning a team that is slowly challenging for third place in
The Atlantic division with the Toronto Maple Leafs losing last night the lightning are only five points back or sorry Four Points back of Toronto each with 11 games remaining on the schedule it’s very possible that Tampa could sneak up especially if the Maple Leafs who are on a two- game losing streak
54 and one over their past 10 overall uh continue to kind of Limp into the postseason they got some injury issues Mitch marner’s out Tampa this could be a first round playoff matchup and the lightning are catching the Bruins on the second game of a backto back so they might be able
To take advantage of that here although of course to Boston’s Advantage they’re able to deploy um Jeremy or sorry lenus alar in this one who’s got a 9914 safe percentage much better than his counterpart Andre vasileski who if you can believe it is only at 897 for the
Season the lightning have won six of their past seven games and they’re really surging here as the playoffs approach again possible that they could catch um Toronto and get third place setting up a first round matchup between these two teams now while Boston um is now three and0 this season
Against the Florida Panthers they haven’t succeeded as much against Tampa they lost 5-4 in overtime back in November uh they won 73 on January 6th storming into Tampa but then the previous game February 13th they fell 3-2 in a shootout the lightning of course very potent offensively they rank
Um sixth in the NHL with an average of 3.48 goals per game the Bruins are at 3.32 defensively though it’s been uh it’s been a struggle for the lightning this season they ranked 23rd allowing 3.31 goals per game their power play though is first in the NHL lad of of course
By uh Nikki kucherov Braden Point Victor Hedman however is banged up so there without Hedman and Mikel sergachev which is a huge bonus for the opposition the penalty kill has also been pretty good 82.4% success rate they ranked sixth the Bruins rank seventh the Bruins are now eighth in terms of power
Play percentage as well after scoring one goal on four opportunities last night Nik kucherov red hot just on Fuego right now 11 points over his last five games David poshak leads the way for the Bruins with six points in that stretch four goals two assists uh COV with two
Goals nine assists in the past five Braden Point Leading The Way with five goals obviously some huge weapons that the lightning have and look out for Anthony duclair who has been very very good for this team since coming over from the San Jose Sharks he
Was a guy I wish the Bruins were able to get in on U of course coer off point Stam Coast Steven Stam Coast pending unrestricted free agent play can play center just throwing that out there I think we talked about that several months ago that possibility but Brandon Hegel Nick
Paul Anthony Celli the list goes on they have some guys who can uh put the puck in the net and lenus Omar will need to be sharp here tonight if Hedman can’t go that’s a huge bonus for Boston with sergachev also out their top guys would be Darren radish Nick perck
Eric cernak Matt Dumba they acquired prior to the deadline as well so this is a big game for the Bruins maybe temper your expectations because it’s a back-to-back situation and they’re coming off that emotional loss if they can show that resolve and keep it going tonight that would be even
More uh impressive for the Boston Bruins on tomorrow’s podcast we’ll of course preview uh the weekend action we’ll recap whatever happens tonight likely won’t have an episode on Good Friday because it’s good Friday uh but we’ll be back tomorrow to discuss whatever happens against Tampa and bring you all
The latest on the black and gold here on the lock down podcast Network your favorite team every single day please do take care of yourselves friends take care of each other and uh yeah peace
Too many time this season we’ve seen the Boston Bruins give up a late tying goal and lose a game in overtime. How many of us expected the same with 2 minutes to go in last night’s game against the Florida Panthers?
The Bruins, however, erased 3 separate one-goal deficits, got the go ahead goal in the 3rd, and held on in what could be a defining effort for this club.
Full credit to Brad Marchand for stepping up on several fronts, to David Pastrnak, Trent Frederic, Pavel Zacha, and Charlie McAvoy for scoring, and to the defense for locking things down late.
No rest for the weary, though, as the Bruins will be in Tampa to take on the Lightning tonight.

That comeback was impressive and what's neded to have playoff success. Let's see if they show the same effort tonight.
Still letting up goals at end of periods!? Smh. Disgraceful effort. Good win but lets see how they do vs TB tonight. 2nd game of back to back, lets hope they dontbtake a gsme off after 1 big win.
11 wins 13 losses 2nd half of season. Since allstar break. Under .500
I don't know what difference it makes if someone is even twice your size if the guy you're picking on is basically a pacifist. Like, who's afraid of picking a fight with Carlo?
Totally unexpected win! It's why I have always loved this team….theres always hope! For a bunch of lunch-bucket guys they're doing great all season. I don't take this too seriously tonight because Ive been enjoying the ride all season long.
Hey Ian, its Ian ! Live from Whitestone Queens NYC, your biggest Bost Bruins fan in NEW YORK! Dont ask! lol What a game lastnight? I thought they would blow it , but Noooo, Zacha comes through !!!
Great game! Worked out exactly as it should. Lindholm got his first fighting major,
little rat punched a 6'5" guy in the face, (without using a ladder🪜)
Jeremy won in Sunrise…
Thats awesome. Especially since he played good but not great.
After Monday's practice, they weren't losing. Playoffs began.
The gentleman Captain has retired.
Time to play real hockey again.
I dont think this team will ever be favored in a playoff series, but I think they're good enough to turn any series in to a coin flip. With a little luck, they could make some noise. I don't expect them to go far but stranger things have happened.
