The Dallas Stars are the first Western Conference team to clinch a playoff spot after a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks! Jamie Benn’s game winning goal on the power play extended his goal streak to six straight games and his point streak to 8. He also ticked off another career milestone by hitting the 900 point total and is 2nd in franchise history to do it. He also picked up an assist on Roope Hintz’s power play goal in the first. Another huge factor was Jake Oettinger, Oettinger made 25 saves and came up with big saves at crucial points in the game. He has now won four straight starts without allowing more than two goals and is starting to look like himself. The Stars can be invincible if he plays like he did last night against the Canucks. Defensemen Ryan Suter and Chris Tanev also had big nights and deserve a lot of praise for the effort in front of the net. Next up is Seattle, the finale of a four game road trip against a team that is 2-6-2 in their last 10. Dallas beat the Kraken back in December and have a chance for the sweep on the west coast trip. Also, Joey goes over the possible matchup in the first round against the Los Angelas Kings.

What a HUGE win, tonight, for the Stars! Oettinger was absolutely sensational as he gets his first-career win over the Canucks (Btw, the Stars' first win at Vancouver (this decade) since November 14th, 2019)! The Stars become the first Western Conference team to reach 100+ points and clinch a playoff spot for the third-straight season (the longest span for the franchise since 2003-2008).
Benn is on fire right now, and playing it down as usual.

The D was on lock 🔒 last night and just totally outplayed the Nucks on their home ice and a place of horrors for the Stars of late. They had onslaught after onslaught on net last night, It was like a shooting gallery.

These road warriors (ironically like the Rangers of last season) and their mentality on road is going to help them significantly in the Playoffs.
I only see two maybe three games where they might struggle down the stretch…..Sea, Col & Edmonton. Other than that I don't see anyone stopping this team the final two weeks. 💫

I don't believe Nils has played poorly enough to take him out of the lineup. Maybe if you have to face the Blues or Kings for a series, but he's playing pretty well with minimal mistakes even against the bruisers. I don't want him to end up being the focus of an entire teams physical abuse like Klingberg was against Calgary, but he needs this experience. Last i heard, Hakanpaa wasn't even skating yet, so we may see Nilsy right up to playoff time
