I fully believe he sold everything for that goal to some demon and we truly are ungrateful.

This is not from me. I saw this in the comment section of a The Athletic article on Slafkovsky released today.

” Imagine that, a sophomore who knows how to use his size and skill whereas a vet making > $5M has no clue. Time for the habs to reduce their carbon footprint and disconnect Anderson from the grid. No reboot required, just shut him down, put him in storage and then transfer him to the Joel Armia school of wake-the-puck-up. The Habs analytical and cognitive services laboratory do not require any more samples, especially after that first Panther goal, a complete microcosm of his consistent ineptitude and cerebral deficiency. The only other option is to assign this soon to be 30 year old Biff to soda jerk duties before sending him back to the future where he can hopefully be restored by Doc. ”

The Powerhorse scores 15 goals next season, book it.

People are hating on Anderson like we have better players benched instead of him.

The team has no depth, he’s not even top 5 of players I’d want riding the stands.

That’s great I just can’t figure out what happened to him between seasons.

There are obvious reasons this fan base is unimpressed by armia, gallagher and mostly anderson. It’s not just about the lack of scoring from the bottom six it’s really due to poor play and inconsistent effort for very long stretches of time. Caufield went on a 19 game scoreless streak and there wasn’t too much bitching and groaning because his playmaking, puck retrieval and defense was all at a very high level. If those three other players could play at the level that they are able to every game I would be defending them despite the lack of scoring. The veteran forwards tuned out this season.

  8. The bipolarity of the fandom isn’t just about going from one extreme to the other, but also about holding *only* extreme opinions.

A player doesn’t *have to be* either absolutely useless or absolutely necessary. There’s fucking wide margin between both.

Past deeds weight very little in current evaluation. There’s no point beating the dead horse of production vs cap hit. One has to look deeper for value and usefulness. Habs’ have their own analytics, so maybe they’re seeing something nobody else sees.

I’m not gonna dwell on it. One curious thing popped up looking into it though: only 2 healthy Habs forwards have a positive Takeaways/Giveaways ratio: Anderson and Gallagher. Might explain why they keep getting the big minutes despite all else.

Dav1D Savard has as many points as Anderson this year in 18 less games 😎
