Very excited that we won and the oilers lost. It must have greatly increased our odds of winning the pacific division. Wooooo!
I love the chirps of Arizona’s arena from the commentating team, “we’re 12 feet away” 😂
Silovs is stealing the playoff starting job. It was never going to be DeSmith and Demko clearly doesn’t want it.
That game solidified to me that Hughes is my season MVP. Even if it is extremely close with Miller and Demko behind. Even when he’s not performing as well his ‘slumps’ are only a handful of games max. It’s amazing how quickly he’s able to adjust and get back to being an all-star. There’s been multiple stretches where he just looks like he turns the difficulty slider down on an NHL game. He’s a total game changer.
Plus minus is a pretty bogus stat but the fact he’s +39 vs. Makar at +13 and Josi at +11 shows how important he is when he’s on the ice.
Thank you Wings! Oh captain, my captain!
Everyone is ragging on DeSmith, but he did everything we asked him to since Demko’s injury, from what I recall, aside from the Vegas game. Not a bad run in my opinion. Silovs had middling stats in the AHL all season so let’s pump the breaks a bit on his two game run
Yeah they didn’t smash it 5-1 or whatever, but I think it’s worth celebrating how the team didn’t crumble after guenther scored. The ingredients were there for a rout: a goal off a bad penalty, 3rd period in a back-to-back, coming off a bad loss. I feel like a month or two ago that would’ve been it, and they would’ve given up 1 or 2 more, or lost in OT.
Hoping the boys are saving their energy for the playoffs or something. This isn’t the same dominant team of earlier. I’m not actually concerned about anyone except Petey. He’s always been a late bloomer as far as turning up the dial mid season but this year his confidence just seems shot.
Looks like Dom L now believes in the Canucks, he was writing non-stop about PDO and regression first month of the season, [now](https://theathletic.com/5389261/2024/04/04/16-stats-auston-matthews-goals-penguins-playoffs-hurricanes/) he believes in the team:
> Despite that regression, the Canucks have maintained their hold on the Pacific Division all season. Why? Because the rest of their game leveled up. Vancouver has a contender on its hands and it’s not because of what happened in the first month — it’s what the Canucks have proven since.
> Since that point, the Canucks are eighth in expected goals percentage at five-on-five, sixth in chances created on the power play and seventh in chances allowed on the penalty kill. As a result, the Canucks managed a 34-18-7 record — a 104-point pace that’s 10th in the league. It’s a record they earned without question.
So even without our crazy luck at the start that maybe put us in the top 3, this is still a top 10 team in the league
Despite their record, I think I remember hearing on 650 that Arizona is still near top 10 in the league in goals for. They can score.
It was great to see us go back to our structure and only allow the single goal (on the PP), especially on a b2b on the road.
Question: Why are Shorty & Razor’s mics so much lower gain than Murph’s and Hockey Central??? I always have to turn the TV up for the game and down for the intermission reports. Is this just me or is this for everybody?
