[Mercogliano] Rempe on getting tossed: “I thought I was going to have a good 5 minutes in (the penalty box) with the fellas. We were going to be cuddled up in there, getting cozy and having a good time… I had no idea that was a rule. I was like, ‘Dang it. My TOI didn’t go up that game.’”😂

  1. Vesey used his Harvard brain to fight first and stay in the game 😅

I don’t remember 8 players being tossed before, positive I’d remember that. So many questions:

Is this a new rule, maybe a result of “The Tom Wilson Incident”?

Does any NHL coach knowingly let all 5 skaters fight on the same shift?. (Five consecutive shifts maybe ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile))

No way Lav sacrifices Trouba / Miller at 0:02 to send a message, right?

    SO MANY QUESTIONS

Lots of great quotes from [Vince’s full article](https://www.lohud.com/story/sports/nhl/rangers/2024/04/04/matt-rempe-other-rangers-describe-wicked-line-brawl-with-devils/73203644007/):

“MacDermid was like, ‘We’re going right now,'” Rempe recalled as they lined up for the opening faceoff. “I’m like, ‘Yeah, I know. I think there’s a reason why we’re starting.’ … It was wicked.”

“Those guys are my brothers,” [Rempe] said. “That wasn’t planned or anything. It just kind of happened naturally. I think that was really special that they did that, as well. I knew that I was going to have to fight. It’s not a big deal − answer the bell type of thing. It happens, but for them to go to war with me was pretty dang special. … I love all those guys.”

“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a team-building exercise, in a sense” said captain Jacob Trouba, who was among the five Rangers’ fighters and one of four who was then tossed from the game. “We’re all in this thing together. He’s not left out there on his own. We’re all with him, every step of the way.”

And finally, this gem from Key:

“I was watching the fireworks go off, and all of a sudden I saw one of their guys come over to our side of the ice,” he said. “He looked at me, kind gave me a nod, and I was like, ‘Eh, why not?’ I thought it was going to be a bad idea. I guess he found out.”

Remember when that bum Reavo exchanged cordialities with Ovi the very first time the caps played the Rangers after Bread got his head slammed against the ice?

Yeah me too… this was way better.
