Doty hit on Pietrangelo – Have Your Say

Jacob Doty of the Los Angeles Kings was suspended two games for his hit on Jeffrey Viel. In a game prior to that, he laid this hit on Alex Pietrangelo. No penalty was called on the play. Should there have been?

  1. Though he took a bit of a run at him and the hit was pretty vicious, but his momentum was carrying him forward to perform a body check on an opponent that was was basically still controlling the puck (when he started heading towards him anyway) and thought his elbow did come up, it was used mostly to push the player off his feet and was not delivered to the head — I would say that was a clean check. If the puck was nowhere near the player he was checking, then that would have been a definite charging penalty.

  2. Wasn't the cleanest hit for sure, but as long as Doty hasn't been running around like that all night, let 'em play. It's hockey, the players can sort out the small stuff.

  3. Absolutely dirty, he saw that petro was blind to the hit which he knew would rock his world lol
