This is one of those years when the Wild are … EXACTLY … where they belong in the standings. They beat all the teams below, and lose to most all the teams ahead of them. 6-15 against the Jets, Preds, Kings, Knights, Stars, Blues, Canucks and Avs.
My gut tells me Spurgeon will not make it to the All Star Break. So Peart and Hunt are my picks. Try to limit Bogosian. Keep him off the PK for sure!
1st line Noldy, EK, Kaprizov. Buying out Johansson would be the faster route to becoming competitive. Put Freddy, centering Foligno and Hartman (4th line). Rossi Khusnidinov, Zuc for 2nd line. Shaw, Beckman and bring in a C on trade or prospect sink or swim!
Just a thought. Now that Rossi is a Masterson Trophy nominee that would add complications to Billy trading him as Rossi's story gets more attention. Honestly if he were to trade him he would really look like a horse's ass to the rest of the hockey world, especially if Rossi won the trophy.
Without JoJo Freddy and zuccarello would be nice but….

Heidt is going to be a wild card. He's been snubbed in the draft and in the world juniors. He has a chip on his shoulder and motivation. He might surprise some people.

Long term if we can't move Gaudreau he could be a good 13th forward. He can jump in at about any spot and be an adequate fill in.
