Last night’s game is one of those that shows that hockey analytics still has a way to go. Yeah, the Caps had more possession, shot attempts, etc. … but the Pens did a great job of limiting the Caps from having “real” chances. HD is somewhat telling, but CF really means nothing in a game like last night’s.

This team is finally playing with patience and frustrating other teams, forcing them to make mistakes. Then capitalizing. All season they were frustrated and wanted to run and gun and looked silly doing so against strong (and sometimes weak) teams. Whether they make it or not to the dance, this should at least build confidence for next season. Go Pens!
Ned was locked in. The pens defense were forcing ovechkin to tough angles and knowing they were desperate for SA, Ned was right there. Even through some screens, he was just reading the caps like a book.
Michael Bunting was also just a pest his whole time on the ice. I hate to see Jake go and possibly going up against him but Bunting has been filling very nicely.
Ovechkin wants the Pens GONE.

Scoreboard watching tonight. Flyers vs Sabres. Capitals vs Hurricanes. Red Wings vs NYR. Pens game is at 1:00 vs the Lightining. After the game the Flyers play CBJ and the Islanders play the Preds. We'll know alot after these games. I believe the Pens will overcome the Flyers and take the #3 seed in the Metro.
I admire and absolutely am proud of this team not quitting when everyone me, including wrote them off, and it was easy not to. They still are not guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, but man are they alive and absolutely have a chance.
Ned, should start every game the rest of the year. Right now, it's his net to lose. This kind of reminds of me Alex Lyons and last year with Florida when he played ridiculous down the stretch and got the Panthers into the playoffs. If you are not a fan of Michael Bunting now, I don't know what to tell you. The fact this team, despite trading Guentzel and being deemed sellers are in it, is wild.
They always say, sometimes the best trades are the one's never made. Alex Nedeljkovic was a hot trade rumor if you all remember, and maybe it was good idea to hang onto him after all lol.

It's definitely not a coincidence that the Pens defense started playing way more solid when Graves left the lineup. They cannot put him back in when he's healthy again, they just can't. Honestly Acciari too. The 4th line has been hemmed in its own zone way less frequently without Acciari.
I was constantly staring at the clock in the third period lol I tried not to, but easier said than done.
Also, I know The Penguins are still not guaranteed to get in, but you can't tell me that some of these teams that they could potentially face, if they make it, are sweating that The Penguins don't make it? You are telling me, that any of these teams whether it be The Rangers, The Panthers, The Bruins, The Hurricanes want to draw The Penguins round one and go up against Sidney Crosby, a three time cup winner and two time Conn Smythe winner in Round 1?
All I can say is what the Pens have done lately, I DID NOT see coming. Perhaps Dubas was onto something when he kept backing Sully. He's been pushing all of the right buttons with this team like he did during their Cup years. I know there's still a difficult road ahead for the team in their schedule with no margin for error, but I'd love nothing more than for them to prove me and lots of people wrong and at least make it to the playoffs!

Hunter funny you should mention clock watching during 3rd period, because I swear that was all I was doing it seemed. And apparently shaking my legs nervously. Didn't realize I was until my wife mentioned it😄. Given the last few weeks kept waiting for other shoe to drop with the Pens holding the lead. Third period totally felt like playoff angst!
dont forget we need to hope other team loseing games like pens cant lose a game , the pens need to go to 4 win 2 tie or 5 wins and one tie for the rest of games
