[A a r o n] At some point in the last year, Dylan Cozens developed some tunnel vision where one of his only instincts became dangle the opponent. More common against clogged neutral zones, but we all know he’s capable of more than this. Centers can’t be this poor at puck distribution

  1. He needs a long session at the Jesper Bratt school of puck protection and eluding defenders. Hard to think of many better in the league at this specific element. A certain intensity with the way he does so too. So much about the skating. I think the core mistake Cozens is making is how deking starts with the hips not the wrists.

    Aside from the decisions naturally.

These clips give the impression of a kinda doofy mindset.

It’s because jack quinn is the driver of that line

I don’t understand why you are complaining. He’s just having a slump. When these dangles work next year he will be much better than he was last year! I love that he keeps trying! Eventually it will start working!

While he certainly seems to have some tunnel vision, I think the problem is compounded by the fact that in about 50% of these clips he doesn’t have any support. Wingers are either behind him, or just standing on the wall slightly ahead of him, with no momentum.

If he had better outlets or (like the one in the 2nd clip that he somehow completely overlooked) or better structure for the neutral zone transition, I think he wouldn’t feel so pressured to try to skate through 3 guys…

Of course, it could also be like my beer league team where I basically bail out whenever the one guy rushes because you KNOW he’s never going to pass the puck. Lol

  5. I kind of wonder if his concussion earlier in the year is still affecting him.
