  1. Wow I didn’t realize it had dried up THAT much. Doesn’t bode well heading into playoffs.

  2. MooreGold

Is that High Danger Corsi For?

So we’re 2nd meaning we have higher rate of getting high quality chances. Maybe we just aren’t scoring enough on average danger type scenarios or generating enough of those. Possibly shown by our over passing and looking for the perfect play

  3. Yep, we’re totally fucked in playoffs, praying for Nashville but even then I don’t believe

  4. RefereeMason

Where’s the guy all over the gamethread saying goals have been 1.8 a game since the All Star break?

  5. Darknessgg

It’s frustrating to watch the team having gone from top 5 offense teams to bottom 5 offense team.

This yoyo swing is what Canuck fans live for /s

  6. metrichustle

I posted this in a different thread, but this is cherry picked stats that doesn’t show the full story. Canucks also have the lowest GA in March, better than several contenders like Avs, Stars, Hurricanes, Golden Knights and Oilers. In fact over 10 less GA compared to Oilers and Golden Knights.

These graphics always come up when the Canucks are losing and yes we need to score more, but the team is playing well, tighter defensively, tonight being an anomaly. Even Golden Knights got destroyed by Coyotes. It happens.

5v5 I see a lot of chances, zero finish. Suter, Blueger and Mikheyev all have cement blocks for hands. Doesn’t help that EP has been having a rough time lately too.

PP… Tocchet keeps talking about wanting a lot of movement but moving around does nothing if you’re not opening up seams. Half our PPs just look like we’re skating circles around the outside while two forwards change spots over and over until we eventually give up and Hughes takes a shot from the point.

These comments are certainly not depressing or reactionary.

  9. 5StarSpudPeeler

Top players need to produce otherwise you get this. Plain and simple.

  10. The secret to happiness is having low expectations

  11. Ecstatic-Buy-2907

    Want another stat?

The team is 34-11-2 with Demko and 11-8-6, soon to be 11-9-6, with Desmith in net

As much as we are complaining about the team struggling with Desmith in recently, it’s not like we were doing that much better with him in net for other games, and this is with him usually getting the easier matchup. We were rolling too with Demko before his injury despite the team struggling to score

We’ve won games because of our goalie and are now losing games because of our goalie. But if Demko comes back fully healthy and playing like a Vezina candidate I’m not gonna hit the panic button yet

  12. I know the start of the year was unsustainable but it’s dried right up, especially our depth players who have been on lengthy goal droughts

  13. I’m surprised PP% isn’t worse. You’re telling me there are 9 teams worse?

  14. I though i heard that this is only the 3rd time this season that they have had 40 shots on goal, that seems crazy!

  15. PoliteCanadian2

At this point the Canucks are for sure losing in the 1st round, the only question is will they get swept.

  16. I told my wife before the All-Star break that the All-Star break has a bad habit of breaking teams on hot streaks…little did I know I was predicting the Canucks future.

I hope they can turn this around. DeSmith is not the guy…let’s give Silovs some more looks before the end of the season.

  17. Was the team this bad before or after they signed Pettersson? Could the signing have anything to do with this?

  18. BigCockBrockBoeser

Have they tried scoring more goals? Are they, stupid?

  19. TopTittyBardown

2nd in HDCF but 27th in goals per game? So basically PDO stopped going brrrr

  20. Really good HDCF but poor actual results. So we’re getting reverse PDO’d

  21. MN_Hussle

This has got to be an NHL record for biggest team implosion.

  22. captain_poptart

I just don’t think we’ve had to play many meaningful games. When the pressure gets turned up, they seem to do pretty well

  23. WTFvancouver

So, no one is allowed to go to the All-Star Games for this team.

  24. jackfrench9

But wait – there was that guy in the game day thread who said that everyone talking about our form since the All-Star break needed to STFU… It would seem that all of the meaningful data would suggest he’s an idiot? That’s super unfortunate for him. I hate it when all the data runs opposite to your opinions.

  25. Hunter-Western

Canucks have to bury their chances, how many do they need lol, should’ve had 6 or 7 goals tonight. 2nd in High Danger Chances For & 27th in Goals per game, yikes.

  26. imaginexpand

Bandwagoner here. Is there a theory as to why this has happened post All-Stars? I feel like since I’ve started watching things have gone downhill. I might take one for the team and skip the next game.

  27. Captain_JT_Miller

Tocchet knows what he’s doing, he’s got like 3 different line ups of potentially successful loadouts for the lines. Experimenting but I bet he is going to go back to Brock and Miller. Also Lindholm is clearly being trained by the Sedins in the hyperbolic time chamber and is going to come back super saiyan.

  28. rockhardRword

The Miller effect. Dude is an enigma wrapped in a paradox.

  29. AutomaticConstant695

Most of you thought I was crazy when I said trading away Kuzmenko messed up the team chemistry but look at the results.

  30. Technical-Match-5202

Our slap shots, deflections is all but gone..I reaaaalllllllllĺy hope they are just hiding true gameplay and set ups…..

  31. I’m sorry to tell everyone but Colorado is a juggernaut this year and they’re going to take it all.
I wish the Canucks had a chance but they don’t.
Signing Petterson to an 8 year deal was complete insanity.
The Canucks won’t win a cup in my lifetime. Probably never.

  32. Letsbeguin

Let’s be real here, not one of you on this sub thought at any point in the year the Canucks would be 1st in the division, let alone on the league. Especially having that title pretty late into the season. We’ve enjoy some great hockey and had some standout performances from Hughes, Demko, and Miller. There was zero pressure on this team going into the season, and the moment the media recognize them as a possible favourite/contender, the boys began to slide. This probably coincided with their extremely high PDO as well. Let’s all be happy with what we have and making the playoffs once again on merit. Cheers.

  33. cormack49

Tocchet needs to pull out a few pages from the Tortorella hand book to get that winning mentality back into the boys

  34. WestCoastGriller

They are gonna get killed in the first round. Its going to be humbling for this group but invaluable for next season.

(I’m lowering and managing my expectations in case they indeed show us they can do in April & May; what they did in October/November)
