I was wondering last night, what can we expect out of Slafkovsky? What is his ceiling?

Hes 20 years old. He’s got 45 points in 76 games. Not bad. But he only had 15 points in his first 42 games, and then put up 30 points in the next 34 games. That’s a 72p pace over a full season.

Is it unrealistic to expect him to continue that pace and put up around 70p next season? Or is that too much too soon? Where is his ceiling long-term? Can he be an p/g player? Is a 100+ point season possible? Seems like the skies the limit with this kid. He just keeps improving.

But maybe for next year, the key sign of development will be that he is driving the play more and is utilizing his physicality more. That might be the next step in becoming a dominant power forward and more relevant than just the point totals.

  3. I watch the guy play and all I see is a future ppg player, and a perennial one at that. Within the next two seasons, him and Suzuki will be pushing for 90.

That line is special. It has all the components needed to be dangerous against any team, any night. I always thought Suzuki would cap out at 75pts and Caufield would be around the same, just inverse their goals and assists. I never thought Slaf would be as impactful as he’s been this fast. He’s going to be a menace and it looks like he has a ceiling of over a ppg. Hopefully, he can continue this development.

30 goals I think is realistic. His assists are an entirely different story. If Suzuki and Caufield play to their full potential I could see 70+ assists

  6. I find it very hard to compare him to anyone that played before because of his persona. He’s so unique in the way he talks, his attitude. He looks like the kind of player who’s going all in on the plan his organization has for him, regardless of his own opinion or the rank he was drafted…just overall he looks like he wants more for himself than we do and it makes all the difference in the world compared to other high picks we had in the 2010’s
