The New Jersey Devils blew another 3rd period lead, losing to the Nashville Predators by a score of 3-2 in the shootout at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on 4/7/24.
Another painful one for the boys…

the most boring game
another day another loss, time to go to bed. I dont even feel any disappointment which isnt necessarily a bad thing i guess
I was at the game due to my birthday, was really excited and got to see a friend of mine. The refs screwed us over and I’m severely mad at them. Especially because of that penalty on Nemec that was obviously a deflection

I was at this one… no excuse to lose that. Devils looked so much FASTER than Nashville… no clue what their deal is.
Was at this game, refs sucked. Devils to quick on shootout. Doesn’t Deke out the goalie and just shoots it. While Nashville took their time and scored. Pretty decent for my first game, 8/10.

Took my mom for her birthday. Had dinner at Redds beforehand, used the Hyundai Garage for the first time, and sat in a suite. Had a lot of fun but really was such a disappointing end to a nail biter.
Kaapo got Kähk knocked & scored against, dbl whammy. This one would've hurt if I was delusional about making the playoffs. A bit unlucky, but Allen also really held them in the game – he was great.
Can’t wait for this season to be over. Major changes need to take place during the summer and ready to be a top team like last season.
100% Agree about Tkachuk. Been saying the same thing for a while. We need a guy like him. Fights like a badger.

I thought we played very well besides the shootout. Some garbage, no frills attempts there.
Jake Allen is a warrior. But I need to see a black and red 74 jersey on the ice next year.
They have been out scored 14-2 in the third during the past few games.
They checked out for the season. Much like Fitz did earlier.
I’m glad you brought up Jack allowing that Predator player to skate into the o zone without trying to get to the puck first. I sat there watching it and saying “wtf Jack”?
The OT was lame as was the Shootout. Not much to add past what you’ve already said in the video.
I said last night it was embarrassing how Brady bullied the Devils. I don’t know how they allow that crap to happen. Anyways, playoff hockey is close and it’s going to be an exciting 1st round.
Atleast it’s not going to be missing the playoffs by 1 point, we all saw the outcome of this season a few weeks ago.

A lead you can count with one hand means nothing against any team when it's the 2023-2024 New Jersey Devils
Jake Allen deserves peace of mind this offseason. Coming back from injury and doing what he has done, he is absolutely a core part of this tandem going into to next season. Guy has been more than I could have ever anticipated when the trade was announced.
Brady would be a good addition. I have liked the Tkachuks. Was there tonight and we're at the whim of the refs once again, they play us like the Gods on Mount Olympus. I wonder if Luke's been hitting the weights. I liked Bowers' play.
I was at this game. It was really cool to finally to Saros play live. He is a great goalie and I would love for the Devils to acquire him. By now everyone knows how soft and terrible the Devils defense is and it needs a major overhaul including also an overhaul of the team identity and culture. This is at least the 4th recent game in which the Devils blew their lead. Very difficult to win like that. For this game leading up to this loss — in 3rd Period — the Predators boarded and roughed Dawson Mercer. No call. All around the refs were terrible this game and as usual towards the Devils. This a tragic season that could have been with all of those basement teams that the Devils have lost to. Great deal of blame is on Fitzgerald for not acting sooner. I would be thrilled if the Devils acquired an SOB like Brady Tkachuk.
Devils once again can’t hold a lead and I wouldn’t of used Jack in the shootout my goodness we all knew he wouldn’t score

There is so much Fitz should do but will he. Tierney's goal is a prime example of throw the puck at the net. The Devils spend way too much time passing and circling for the "shot". Definitely agree we need players like Tkachuk. I would not mind send Jack to Ottawa for Tkachuk. Jack does not play all 200 feet. We need 200 feet players. #firefitz

I was at this one. It was a fun game although it’s crystal clear that this team is way too opportunistic. There are a crap load of kinks to work out going in to the next season. The team is in major trouble not only defensively but offensively now too! Good luck to Fitz because he’s going to need every ounce of it. It’s very difficult to be hopeful for next season given what we have been witnessing.

Glad you noticed that Hughes turnover and dogging it back on defense. He absolutely was going to give up on it and suddenly had an oh shit i need to get back moment. Kid has no fight, no heart. Wish you would talk about this a bit more. I think you are a smart enough fan to see the potential writing on the wall. This all started with the people come to watch me comment. If he played in a bigger media market with real sports writers he would have been destroyed for that comment. Glad your mentioning hits and blocks, something foreign to this team this season. Tkachuk is a pipe dream. They aren't giving up their captain. As for next season, you are correct, Allen will be the starter, our GM will do very little, maybe a few small moves. You will see pretty much the same roster. Its all about the cap.
Good episode. Heard your want for Jeremy to play. I’ve seen him a few times this season in Adirondack and he actually looked great in each of the three contests. He has devils stuff on his helmet and it was very cool watching him play. Had some goosebumps the first time for sure. It would be a cool thing to happen.
going forward we need a proper "JAKE THE SNAKE" chant when he dazzles us. There wsa a weak Allen" chant but not impactful enough
