  1. Finally!
    – RHP is Hudon vers 2 ok in the AHL but in a results driven business time to cut bait.
    – Pezzetta again in a results based business( getting your face rearranged at home on National TV is not a plus) game over.
    – Anderson, again results based no reason to keep him around!
    He has checked out already.
    – Pearson again excess baggage
    – Kovacevic ?
    – Ylonnen wasnā€™t he headed back to Scandinavia last summer?

  2. Thanks Coach another great daily. On days when I donā€™t leave a comment, it is because I am watching on my TVā€¦.i always leave a likeā¤ļø

  3. Great job coach You're telling it like it is a lot of people don't want to hear it but you got the best interests of our future in mind thank you

  4. Hello Coach. Itā€™s Rick woods.
Havenā€™t been able to sign on After our trip in Sept my wife was diagnosed with cervical cancer. We been going for radiation and chemo since Oct(rather she has). 2weeks ago she was labelled free of lymph nodes and right now is free from any further danger
I have been watching your podcasts and the habs but my mind has been elsewhere
Agree with your assessment of whoā€™s not going to be here. They have all been given more than enough time to bloom.
The habs at 5 should draft Lindstrom if heā€™s around and Iā€™m really impressed by Iginla. He may be ranked at 9
    See you soon

  5. I agree with most of what you said however:
    – I like Pezzetta on the 4th line unless someone overtakes the role in training camp.
    – I'm done with the Justin Barron experiment. Maybe trade him to a team that needs an offensive defenseman.
    – I would keep Kovacevic for his final (UFA) year until the coming wave of young D are ready (and for injuries); especially at a cap hit of $766,667
    – I'm not sure it makes sense to trade Anderson while his value is low and we'd have to eat contrast dollars. While I like to think Armia can return with his new found game, his value is potentially higher at the moment. Something to think about. The aforementioned players do provide size…to compensate for undersized players.
    – Jesse Ylonen…I feel like he has the skills to be a good 4th line scorer but has not yet found the confidence…
    – HP will be replaced by what's coming behind him
    – I hesitate to trade Harris (if he's paired with the correct #5 D). Good in the locker room and on/off the ice. That said and as rumors have it, he may be part of a package that includes a first round pick and a prospect that gets you some top 6 scoring.
    – what to do with Christian Dvorak when he returns as a UFA for his final season at $4,450,000$ (this off-season or trade deadline trade next year?)
    Cheers!

  6. Super Coach… Great Show!

Clearly there is something wrong with Anderson. Is it physical or is it mental. Does he have issues with the environment? Is there something in his personal life affecting his game??? The Habs have carried Anderson this year in a rebuilding year. We cannot sell assets when they are LOW. ( buy Low sell High). He needs a fresh year and fresh start… Look at Armias turn around. The same could happen with Anderson because he has the skills. If we sell him during the summer we likely wont attract much value. If Anderson sorts himself out he could be an excellent Trade Bait at next years deadline.

This said…. after looking at his career numbers he is overvalued at $5.5 Million.

    Something does not add up

  7. Great stream. Great game. LGR šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰. Thank you all for always having me. Youā€™re all awesome people. Except Sebastian. šŸ˜‚

  8. Coach Im always impressed with your blunt and honest assessment of the Habs players development and performance. There are so many factors at play this season that will still be an issue next year and potentially the year after that. These issues will take time to work thru for sure, but there are things Hughes can do to nudge the rebuild along. Clearly Anderson is an issue and limiting his ice-time is the only option available, assuming a trade is not happening. Ive held this position all season. I agree with all of your player assessments and suggestions. I am a little surprised that you didnt mention Gally. He is the other factor that should be demoted to the 4th line with Anderson, next season. I have to give you a lot of credit Coach. Many of the fans that go to the live chat share your stance about the "reality" of the Habs as a team, however there are also several who think that a "Magic wand" is all that it will take to fix the Habs overnight. It's delusional for sure, and, not unlike many of the fans of most other teams, especially the Leafs. I salute your patience and ability to explain time and time again to those who can't accept the reality of the current version of the Montreal Canadiens.

  9. Coach,

I have a tough question about Lane Hutson and your comments would be appreciated. Besides wanting to be positive about the Canadiens is it possible that Lane Hutson could take the route of Adam Fox who was drafted by Calgary but never signed. Given the high Tax situation in Quebec and Lane Hutsons American roots and one other significant question—- Montreals crowded prospect Blue line.

If I was Lane Hutsons agent I maybe counciling him to try to not SIGN with Montreal and try getting to one of the Tax free States=== Seattle, Dallas, Tampa, Florida and maybe try landing on a team where there is more need for Defence Prospects. (chicago has Korchinsky )

While we want to remain positive and hopefull could Lane and his agent go down this route in order to break into the NHL more easily??

  10. Coach is right if we want a competitive team. Going forward the first line is fine. But the second line looks like a third. So if we shift the second line to third and fill the 2nd with dach and another star. We got this

  11. Habs are now 5th to draft this year. Oh yeah. I love this team, so I hope they lose the last five games of this season, by one goal each.

  12. Nice video as always. I agree with your opinion. Althought id say i like kovacevic, he has potential and i also like harris too even thought many dont like him

  13. I want Kovacevic to return in a 7th D role. He plays great defense and had a huge 6'6 220 frame that he uses well. His offense isn't even bad either for a defensive defenseman. Maybe a 10 and 10 player who plays good D and physical? Sign me up! Ylonen I'm fine with leaving. Sharks for maybe a 5th. Anderson too but i don't know if we can really move that contract. Pezzeta won't get as many games in the NHL but probably still 15-30 as a call up.

  14. Great vid Coach. Agree with most of your projection for next year. Hughes will def be looking to add a top 6. It will be a miracle in they can move Anderson, Think RHP is fine for 4th line: PK role and should get you the 7-10 goals you need from a 4th line guy. I wouldn't mind adding a veteran RHD but as long as it doesn't block a spot for Reinbacher or Mailloux.

  15. Caufield- Suzuki- Slaf

    Newhook- Dach- New Guy

    Roy- Dvorak- Armia

    RHP- Evan- Gally

    (Pezz)

    Guhle-Savard

    Matheson- Reinbacher

    Xhekay- Kovacevic

    (Barron)

  16. Armia, Anderson, Savard, Gallagher, Dvorak, Ylonem and RHP all should not return next year. I would try to replace pezzetta as well

  17. Josh will be back, sometimes it's just a rotten year. They gotta get rid of Pearson, White, Ylonen, Harris etc. Pez is grit, would rather have him than these other pieces of garbage out there. RHP is AHL at best, should never be here.. Keep Kovacevic, trade Struble in a heartbeat he's overated.

  18. I agree with the players that should not be back. Also we need more size up front and I agree adding one veteran defenseman. We definitely need to build a solid first and second lines. Thinking Dach Slov Suzuki first line bring in caufield for pp or if Dach is centering second line we need a solid good size gritty winger on the first line

  19. Remove Pezzetta and Anderson then there's no toughness up front, not a good plan . Depends on what they envision next season, Maybe hold on to Kovacevic for now. Depends on plans with Savard, Mailloux and Reino, maybe/probably that's undecided at this point. Agree RHP to Laval, Ylonen doesn't get re-signed, nor Pearson and White. Then there's Gallagher. Depends on if Hughes trades draft picks with players for NHL ready players and what he does during the summer. Hard to say, too many unknowns.

  20. I agree with everything you said except getting a veteran defenceman. We are not likely to get one on a short contract. If we can get 1 for 2 years ok, longer than that and we hold back our prospects, and like you said we are not likely to make the playoffs anyway.

  21. Very good video Coach and you raise many good points. However, will not be easy to move some of those bigger contracts but there are ways though. The continued success of Armia and to a lesser degree Gally will be essential for Montreal. Pezzetta and RHP can still serve a useful role on this team for 1 more year unless someone else from Laval or elsewhere beats them out of a spot in training camp. Competition is always healthy. The Habs could be in a position to challenge for a playoff spot but need to have everything go well for them. However, the process is going well and hopefully we should be in playoff spot in a year or 2 from next year.
