It’s bad luck, not so much bad play. Giving up the goals at the end of a period is unacceptable!
They did not check every box,they should have been attacking the net more. Traffic in front of lindgren. Screens, deflection shots. Thats what u have to do against a hot goaltender. And we didnt see it until 1 second left. And what happened when they did do it? They scored a goal. Thats what shouldve been done earlier! But lalonde didnt make the adjustment. And he missed the complete offsides on the 1st caps goal. Lalonde gots to go!

Everyone seems to forget that Lyon was a big reason we won against Buffalo. Issue is that right now we need consistency from him – I dunno, does he need to be worked more? Is it a concentration issue? Other point is that good teams find a way to win, go to a plan B or whatever. As others have said, if rebound control is an issue, drive the net, get a dirty goal, whatever. Problem is that Lalonde and the team don’t seem to have a plan B and there are no real clutch players at the moment either. Sure, we’ve had individuals play great here and there but I mean stepping up when it matters. Doesn’t help that Debrincat seems to have sleep walked since such a hot start.
So over this season. Caps are such a bad team. We drop 2 against them. I’m pretty fkin annoyed. We wouldn’t even be here if we didn’t blow 7 STRAIGHT games in March. Just two win and this wouldn’t sting as bad. I’ll have a bad taste in my mouth for a long time.
Lelonde doesn't put debrincat on the pp at the left side like the beginning of the year..Instead he puts perron. And why with 10 min left were we not double shifting our best players?? We run out veleno and czarnik..
This team needs to get better with this roster doomed
Two items:
1) If the Red Wings want to make the playoffs they need to go 4-0 their last 4 games. Anything less, no playoffs
2) If one person is to blame for the team’s collapse, don’t mention Petry or Lalonde. Without any question, the blame falls on ALEX DEBRINCAT – PERIOD
It wasn't Lindgren that made the difference it was the lack of capitalizing on the wing's many chances to score… Lindgren has been 0-6 in his last 6 games with a save percentage of 874 in this span.. again the wing's lack of ability to bury the puck is killing them
On the pressure before the first goal, Ghost had 3 chances to clear the puck and could not get it out. Plus, has more ice time than any other D-man and had many turn-overs. Mo loses an edge and the best goal scorer in the past 25 years scores. Our offense is no where to be seen. No net presence. Changes have to come.
The bottom line is your big gun's gotta score when they are not producing your just doomed.. Fisher messed a wide open net and shot it wide..why is he still here
All the money Yzerman spent and this team doesn't have a second line center or 3 good defencemen.

I guess I was watching a different game. Yes, the Wings controlled the whole game, but all I saw was outside shots, no screens, and no one around to finish rebounds. Chirot is NOT going to score. Seider is NOT going to score, yet.. Over and over again, the blue line was firing the puck and Lindgren was seeing it come from a mile away. Why wasn't anyone screening? Because the forwards are along the boards expecting a pass so they can set up a play!!! Y'know, the way the Wings play hockey!?! Yet, over and over, the blue line kept stepping in and letting it rip! The Wings hardly ever out-shoot their opponents. It's not their strategy. They out-maneuver and create opportune chances. This was NOT Red Wings hockey tonight, so I'm not impressed by the SOG. And don't get me started in the other end. Constantly lobbing the puck to center ice for a turnover is a miserable defensive strategy, yet the Wings D resort to this every single time they're under pressure, and tonight it bit them, plain and simple..
I could see it coming. Hockey is a cruel sport. The better team doesn’t always win. We’ve been on the other side of that a number of times this year.
End of the day, 0 points, this team is the biggest monumental Collapse in the history of the NHL. 7 game losing streak they were in the playoffs and now collapse.
almost every veteran player is underperforming under lalonde…he needs to go pure and simple
Lalonde needs to find a way to get Debrincat back on track before it's too late. Same with Sprong and Fabbri for some timely 4th line goals… he did stabilize the D by adding Edvinsson to the mix, but the offense has dried up most nights.
I always thought the playoffs were a pipe dream. I still do. Newsy needs to go.
It hurts, but in all honesty, ,it hurts far less than being dead last in the division and mathematically eliminated from playoff contention in February. There's still an incredibly bright future ahead of this team, no matter the outcome of this season.
Games like this happen, you can’t avoid it. You just can’t let it happen in a tight playoff race with 5 games to go.

Goes to show this team isn't close to making the playoffs where half the league makes it in. The Yzerman shouldn't take 5 plus years where all we have now is… yea they still look terrible…overall.
How do you not address no Cat on the pp in the third or putting Fabbri out instead of Cat on the 6 on 4. You need goals, play your 40 goal scorer.

Brian keeps saying the wings played good hockey. Problem is Washington DID play better because the scoreboard says so. Yes wings had more shots but Caps are the ones that went in. Caps Tendy stood on his head and ours didn't. Both teams defenses sub par. And coaching… The whloe they bought into the lalonde system this game. They still lost to the Caps with his system. So does the Lalonde system suck or is it the player's?
This was a devastating loss i was genuinely upset watching this at least were playing games that matter but very upsetting
