  1. Pick it up boys. It's early but this is seeming like a habit. Stay in the right mindset and work harder than the other team. Onto the Windy City!

  2. I turned this game off when it was still 1-0 Leafs. I could see as clear as day that a 1 goal lead would evaporate in a hurry. They looked like hell out there AGAIN. Guys crashing into one another, rarely completing two consecutive passes… Matthews’ goal felt like it wasn’t really earned but just sort of happened. I’ve seen the Leafs bounce back from bad games and bad periods before, but what I’m seeing this year looks different. Like, they really look terrible.
I know it’s early, but my suspicion is this lineup just doesn’t have anything else to show us.
I was feeling optimistic as the season began too, but even the 2 wins felt… not great.

  3. This team doesn't know how to box out. Pathetic. It's been an issue for years It's nothing new.

  4. Mathews, Marner, Nylander and Tavares are players who excel when other teammates create time and space for them. As the core 4 they are put out to bust through the other teams defence. This doesn't work. Dubas put too much emphasis on these 4. He really only needed to secure Mathews and Nylander. The other money should have gone to a skilled power winger and a top 2 Defenceman.
