Wtf ZAR called up instead of Kasper? Is that terrible call coming from the coach or GM? That's just awful.
That's actually smart. This team is still competing for a playoff spot and ZAR has 300 NHL games under his belt.
I commend both of their optimism, but they're dreaming if they think the Wings will go any further than they already have. Stevie Y needs to have a serious talk with who he decides to keep on this squad after the season is over. Was it a joke seeing the Wings throw the season away in the last 3 weeks after literally sealing a 2nd wildcard, yet giving that chance now to 3 teams (Pens, Caps, Isles) who shouldn't even be in the mix?
Petry and Hol either need to retire or leave for another club, respectively. Wings have to put their trust in the youth they havs because they have many of them that'll want to be in the NHL within the next 2-3 years. Kasper, Cossa, Augustine, Pelikka, Danielson, Lombardi, Johannson, and others are not going to want to wait until they're in their mid 20s to come up. If Stevie Y is serious about keeping these top draft picks, he'll need to get at least 3-4 players to come up and play, at least at different times throughout the next couple of seasons or they will become disinterested and will want out of the contract. We already have that situation with a "so and so"(can't remember his name). who's been back/forth between Griffins and Wings, and doesn't want an extension on his contract. Why? Because he wants to play in the NHL with an NHL contract, and he thinks he's ready to be on an NHL squad, so the Wings will run into this situation if they don't send several up to the NHL level. Why bother picking top draft picks when you won't even try them eventually at the NHL level? You can't wait until they reach their mid 20s on every prospect. If they're top draft picks,. they'll want the NHL exposure much sooner in their professional careers. Wings are playing with fire if they think they can hold back these top draft picks for several years to come.
Hope I'm wrong but I don't think Seider can give the Wings or any other club that blue line prodigal look on offense consistently. And I think Wings fans may get disappointed with Seider, like I have been in assessing him this year, in the years to come. If anything, I think (for now) that Edvinnson will be the "go to" player from the Wings top draft picks as the offensive-minded defenseman, at least for now until further notice.
The GM has to make room for younger players this summer period. Kane was the only 30+ player he signed or traded for that was worth it. If Kane wants to sign, go for it. Forget Perron and Gostisbehere, he shouldn't even be thinking about resigning them. Buyout either Petry or Holl and make room for Johansson or Wallinder. Wings are the 7th oldest team in the NHL right now. This is not a young team and they need to get younger. You don't win in today's NHL with the Copps, Comphers, Petrys and Perrons of this world. I don't mind making a step back next season if we get younger. And this team might actually get better without this dead wood. I know Yzerman will not be able to get rid of guys like Copp, Chiarot and Compher but if you can inject younger talent around them, it will help the team 2-3 seasons ago, if not next season.
This franchise has went with « safe options » for 10 seasons and has failed every time.
Somebody needs to tell Bentley that you don't have to be a "rocket scientist" to figure out what works with your top draft pick prospects. This ZAR, who I and many more than myself never heard of, offers what this roster at this specific point in the season? If the Wings organization like what they see in Marco Kasper, like Fisher said, the Wings really have nothing to lose yet everything to gain by getting Kasper into a Wings uniform right now, especially with Copp out, just to see what he can do on the ice. Bentley comes across maybe as somebody who is too book smart with limited common sense when assessing potential strengths for this hockey club. I think Bentley has been on the wrong side of the equation for the Wings to be a winning team, but not just him, there are many who don't appear to be forward thinking about the Wings' future and have that crazy conservative approach to try virtually "nothing" to get this team as a winner until doing "nothing" doesn't work…..
Thinking Fisher needs to pull Bentley out of that seat and consider putting somebody else there. Man is he (Bentley) chicken, or what? That's what happens when you aspire to play with the big boys. Police officers and firefighters go through this all the timd in those careers. Bentley needs to quit thinking like a woose or get off the program. Fisher has got to be scratching his head wondering why he's got this guy (Bentley) on the podcast. Gee Bentley, grow a spine already. This is the nature of life. Sometimes those surprises come when you least expect them, but the idea is you gotta be ready. Get with the program, Bentley….. Fisher may have to replace you if you keep getting scared to see changes. Some careers, like professional sports and even law enforcement and firefighting, have those built-in surprises. Time to wake up and put on your big boy pants.

Kasper could just be that little spark to make a difference to give this offense a lift..no but your bringing up a guy that will be lucky to to see 4 minutes of ice time just to fill a spot who will have no impact
Fisher is right, Bentley is wrong. Bentley should stick with critiqing the Tigers. Don't know if he's good at even doing that. Don't think Bentley has common sense. Bentley is way too conservative and doesn't understand what can be done here. Bentley jad been wrong before and he's wrong now. Fisher is correct in his assessment to try Kasper, even at this time in the season. It won't hurt tjd Wings any more than they've already hurt their chances to make the playoffs. Once again, Bentley doesn't know what he's talking about.
Going to be a rough final stretch of road, but the one positive is we are still in the playoff picture in the final week. I'll feel good about the season if we at least split the final 4 games… I'm curious if Lalonde will make some line changes. Our bottom 6 is beat up losing Copp and Rasmussen. Debrincat is beyond ice cold and either needs to move up with Larkin and Raymond or down to the 3rd line to heat him up.
The possibility of starting from scratch with the goal tending again is profoundly dispiriting to consider. However promising the net minding prospects are, they’re not ready and there are still seasons’ worth of games to be played before they will be.

Czarnek is brought up with Ras and Copp out. An NHLer playing down in AHL for years is going to fill a grinder spot or 3rd center spot. 1 for 2. Doesn't add up. 4 games to go, what is Zar going to add now that he hasn't added already? Scratching my head. Who will sit out? Why him, why now? A lot can happen in 4 games, but not playoffs, not for Red Wings.

I am happy that our record this year is better than Buffalo and Ottawa. Both teams were better than the Wings last year. However both of those teams are still committed to their rebuild. Yzerman abandoned the rebuild when he signed veterans last summer and early in the season in a desperate attempt to make the playoffs. Problem was those old veterans took away roster spots for our young players (Berggren and Edvinsson). After the humiliating home loss to the struggling Capitals it is obvious to all but the biggest Yzerbots that his short term bet has failed. Sorry you are not willing to talk about it.
So, at the beginning of next season, Scott, please tell us which games are important and which games aren't important so we don't waste our time and money going to unimportant games.
