  1. Meuralo or however you spell it, is misleading the league and his fans, TIME TO MOVE!

  2. Steve… why does Arizona "deserve" a hockey team? Or for that matter does any city actually deserve a team?

  3. Can y'all do a therapy segment for coyotes fans? I'm struggling with the move… Do I follow the franchise to a place I don't have ties to? Do I just follow players, THG style? What do I do 3-7 years from now when the coyotes come back? I feel Winnipeg and Minnesota would be great sponsors for yotes fans in recovery….

  4. I moved to Arizona in 2015. I have been going to Coyotes and Roadrunner Games ever since. I would drive from Tucson to games before I moved to the Phoenix area. The team deserves better. Mullett has been a fun experience buts it’s not for an NHL. There are many things people don’t realize that go into an arena. I don’t want the yotes to go but I wish management did better so they don’t but here we are.

  5. I live in Las Vegas and thought it was a slam dunk they would get a relocated Coyotes franchise instead of an expansion team. I was pleasantly surprised and now very relieved we ended up with VGK. Bill Foley and his group has been phenomenal for this city and fanbase. As a displaced Rangers fan, this is my second team and its been wonderful to own season tickets for a successful home town NHL team.

The downside will be dealing with the A's mess when the baseball team eventually moves from Oakland (Sacramento soon) to Las Vegas. Then we will see the other side and how painful bad sports ownership can be to a fanbase.

  6. Move the team to SLC then do a new expansion when they have a barn in Arizona along with a 3 other team expansion to have an even number of teams in divisions and have some division realignment again with adding, Quebec, Houston & Kansas City.

  7. Unfortunately Arizona is living in a time where hockey is yet to be invented. Since they want to keep laws in place from the 1800's

  8. I love the Coyotes, and clearly, the powers that be in the Phoenix area government are not thrilled with the team. This team is on the upswing they deserve a legit arena. I want the team to move, and then when an arena is built and ready, give the Phoenix area a new team. And name the new Salt Lake team the Salt Lake Silvertips with a grizzly bear like logo/motive.

  9. Scottsdale does not want the Coyotes. They had chances to build the arena there before and voted against it.

Despite what they claim, the Coyotes are asking for tax breaks on this development. Scottsdale doesn’t need to be giving away money to drive development.

  10. Arizona doesn’t deserve to have another NHL team. The only time they ever came close to selling out is when a Canadian team is playing there and the vacationing snowbirds decided to watch their team demolish the Coyotes.
They couldn’t get a building in how long while having a team, how long would a building get built without having a team?
Just move the damn team to Salt Lake City (or better yet Houston or Quebec City) and forget about Arizona. It’s just another Atlanta. I know the NHL wants to follow the big American cash cow, but this franchise is anything but.

  11. Why does Arizona deserve an NHL team when it is obvious that the governments of Phoenix and the surrounding areas will not support one? Sell the team and move them to SLC where the people will be overjoyed to having them and are willing to have an arena built just for them. Personally, if an expansion occurs in the next couple of years or so, Arizona along with Atlanta should not be considered. They've had their chances.

  12. September 2026.
This is happening now because Bettman does not want the union to use the Yotes situation as a way to ask for more money or concessions.

  13. Question…? With all the stuff this season surrounding the jets. Do you think if the ownership of that team did what Arizona has done. Would they still be there?

  14. As good as that sounds.. it's been done.. just look at the Ravens/Browns mess of the late 90's in the NFL.. much the same thing….just as the Browns got their funding for the new stadium… ownership announced the move to Baltimore… It looks good on paper… in reality it's got holes. BIG HOLES… like drive a truck through them sideways holes.. like look at the status of the Browns today vs back then… Cleveland fans LOST BADLY on that deal.. why should we.

  15. Move them to Utah, RENAME THEM, Az retains rights to the Coyotes, and promise AZ that once the arena is built- they get the expansion slot that becomes the Coyotes again. BAM. DONE.

  16. I believe long term the NHL is committed to finding a way to get a big national US broadcasting contract such that NHL teams would no longer be so heavily dependent on gate revenues to make their ends meet.

In doing so, I believe the NHL would ultimately require large markets such as Phoenix, Houston and Atlanta to fulfill their vision. So regardless of whether it works this time or not the NHL may look to come back to Phoenix in the future.

  17. If the yotes move Im not sure Id want a team back. Honestly. Unless it is this team. As a yotes fan weve been promised rebuilds, etc. And now when it feels like the on ice product is getting better and theres light you want to pull them. I understand from the NHLs perspective that this needs to be done. I really do understand the logic. I hope they understand that the reason this "saga" has gone on as long as it has is because of the passionate fanbase. You remove the team, the history and everything else and come back with a blank slate in 5 years time, youre really not going to see fans in the building. Why would they. As a fan, you ask us to stay committed, support you and then yank the team and say youll get a new one sometime down the line. No thanks. The only option for fans is if this is an intermediate until a new arena is built and THIS team comes back. I dont want a blank slate or players im not invested in.

  18. “Snottsdale”, as neighboring communities refer to it, are pissed at the mayor’s comments and lack of support.

  19. yesterday: "Winnipeg Jets ownership sounds the alarm on attendance"
today: "if the Coyotes move, Phoenix becomes the top candidate for expansion again"
…this is all going to end with the Jets moving to Phoenix again, isn't it

  20. The fact is that the team has never been competitive in AZ. No matter who owned the team, or where they played their home games. It's a pointless endeavor for them to continue on in the Valley.

  21. Hockey in Arizona was always dependent upon the (Canadian) Snowbirds spending their winters there.

While they will fill the house for the Leafs, Habs and the other Canadian visiting teams, they won't pay top dollar to watch a bad team on any other night.
