Its not the contact, but that puck is played with a high stick, therefore it can be argued being reckless. How hard can you hit someone in the head, just because the puck is there?
No reason that his stick should be that high to play the puck. Crosby is trying to protect himself and McCann’s dangerous, illegal playing of the puck results in Crosby being hit in the face with the puck.

Not a penalty, but play should be whistled for playing a puck with a high stick and the faceoff taken in the neutral zone.
