  1. 3 open spots + RFA not resigned (Bryson) = 4 open spots.
Even keeping a spot (or 2) open for the prospects (Savoie, Kulich or Rosen) gives GMKA 2 to 3 spots to add veterans to this team.

  2. I agree about Clifton, he has heart. To many fat easy paychecks ruin players intensity. The lesser paid players performed the beat (UPL), Peterka, Greenway, even Quinn looks good.

  3. I honestly think that Granato could potentially have a role with Buffalo in player development, since he is very good with younger players. But I agree that he is not the right guy for getting the team to take that next step.

  4. Team is SOFT because of soft easy practices and training camp. PP was terrible this year which killed the team, which is on coaching . Daycare Donnie and his band of misfit assistant coaches need to go! The team needs a veteran coach who will hold players accountable .
Dont worry about Olofsson, he is UFA. I heard his house is for sale and i wouldnt be surprised if he finishes his career in Sweden. My fear is that Adams resigns Girgenson and Krebs! No thanks as the 4th line needs more grit and toughness like you said Wayne plus a veteran centreman who is better on faceoffs.

  5. I was mildly optimistic going into this season, there were a lot of things to be excited for – strong finish of the previous season, everyone had a good year and so on…so I let my guard down and naturally a lot of fans just feel betrayed now.
Conversely we had those expectations for a good reason – they looked very good at parts of the season and I still feel like they are just scratching the surface, however and this is just simply me talking out of my ass – when we gonna start to have a talk Dahlin wanting out?
I mean, he has been here 6 years and all he knows is loosing, you can see how frustrated he gets time to time, I don't want to have that conversation yet but if they are not going to significantly improve next year I think we might need to revisit this topic.
As for the ownership, I just think Pegula has too much to say when it comes to day to day operations and clearly he doesn't learn from previous years….13 years under his leadership and still not a single playoff appearance, that to me is an indicator he should probably sell the team.

  6. Wow! I don't even want to think of were the Sabre's would have finished without the season UPL had.

  7. As for UPL, from a goalie perspective and I play the position – obviously not a Pro caliber, I can say he actually looked way more patient this year.
The reason why most of his saves looked like routine saves was because his reading and a foot game got better, he was square and in a position before the puck landed front of him, that was the key – he made it look easy because he did beat a lot of plays on his feet.
As a goalie you want to make it look easy, that means he did read the play well and I will rather have that than a " flopper " who makes few fantastic saves – that actually means you got mostly beat on the play, that's why those saves look miraculous but a lot of the times it just shows a technical flaws in a goaltenders game.

  8. I think this team needs a coach that pushes them every game, practice and shift. We need a leader like Crosby or Mackinnon that wants the best out the coaches and teammates and leads by actions.

  9. @Roam Hockey, this ownership of Sabres has been brewing since before Eichel, Reinhardt & Rusto left. Wayne you will find loads of long tenure Sabres season ticket holders have the same opinion. In fact @Chris Durrick who is a visitor to your channel shares the exact sentiment of yourself and fellow Buffalo hockey fans.
Will some new team owner with a winners mentality take the reins? ?

Famous words of Ioan Gruffudd in the Titanic movie.

    'Can anyone her me??'
    'Is anyone there'

The Sabres ship is not sinking just yet whether some has the willingness to inject life, spirit, toughness, mental strength into some of these players.

    I hate loosing!!
    So does Chris D

  10. If I tune in to game 1 next season and I see Matt Ellis behind the bench talking into his sleeve again, I’m out.

  11. Wayne, you mentioned Scotty Bowman and Ken Dryden. I think if more fans read what Dryden wrote back in the day and recently, they’d see a genius of a player talking about the genius of a coach. Bowman at 90 would have gotten the Sabres into the playoffs.

  12. Wayne! If Adams doesn't fire Granato at the end of the season, should Terry Pegula step in and fire both Adams and Granato? I totally agree with everything you brought up that Granato isn't the right head coach for taking the Sabres to the next level… He's way too soft who does nothing but make up the same old excuses about the need for getting better and to compete, but his message hasn't been getting through nor has his system been working… The Sabres need a no-nonsense head coach who has Stanley Cup playoff experience that is able to get his players to finish their checks along the boards and play with aggression… I have 5 candidates in mind, with the first choice as Gerard Gallant followed by Claude Julian, Mike Babcock, Joel Quenneville- if he's permitted to coach again in the NHL or just bring back Lindy Ruff, now that he's available once again… Any of these choices would be a substantial upgrade from Granato who can take the Sabres to the next level and finally end the long 13-year playoff drought…

  13. Roam you speak facts I have felt the back in November it’s sad we need a gm with balls tell the owner to back off let us hockey people do are job this team can’t afford a first time coach I’ve been pounding that table for a few years now back before KA took over I’m lost I am I believe stuff when I see it now

  14. The simple fact is, if Buffalo had shown as much commitment and belief as you have all season we'd all be talking about playoffs and a deep run. It's just been too inconsistent to really get going right from day one. Oh well, here's to next season. 🤔

  15. Terry Pegula needs to hire a Director of Hockey Operations to oversee the Sabres.

That person should have executive experience; while he was employed by a given NHL team, that team has to have WON THE STANLEY CUP. Once that's established, hire him and LET HIM HIRE the coach and GM.

All Pegula should do at this point: just SIGN THE CHECKS, and then SIT BACK and watch the magic happen.

  16. Hey Wayne! I would like a video of who would like the next coach to be. Use the board to show what they have done in the past. I see Hockey News interviewed Joel Quenneville. There's also Gallant, and Bruce Boudreau.

  17. we got talent.. but how do you convert that into wins. boring is fine as long you get the win. but its too tipsy doodle outthere, skating around looking pretty..
