Long story short (as I can), our two boys had never been on a plane before and we have looked for a trip since before COVID to do as a family.
A couple months ago we started joking we should go down to see a Firebirds game since our family watches both Kraken and Firebirds hockey together. We decided to go for it, booked everything, found a weekend with two games to see, had it all planned out.
Then the Kraken started calling everyone up. Wright, Winterton, Morrison (and others) were all rotating through Seattle and doing great. So excited for them, but bummed we would miss them in Coachella.
Well the day of the trip comes and we go to Seatac, start teaching the boys tricks of travel and all goes well. Flight is great and we land in Palm Springs.
As we walk through the airport I jokingly say to our boys they should keep a look out since the Kraken announced reassigning most of the Firebirds players back down, Ryker feels firmly slotted in the rotation at this point so did not expect him to move back.
As I’m standing in the rental car line our oldest comes running over and says look who I just met. Shows me this pic with the 3 young stars we just talked about.
They chatted with my wife and kid for a bit, told them they were not playing Friday, but would be playing Sunday (today).
I was stuck with the rental agent who’s spirit animal must be a sloth and did not get to run over with my Shane Wright ‘Young Guns’ hockey card to sign, but they were kind, generous and happy to do a photo. So they have big fans in us and we will be cheering them on through the Calder Cup playoffs and into the future for sure.
FYI- I don’t post our kids pictures often but he gave permission to share this one.

That is so awesome! What a cool experience
Congrats!!!! What a cool experience!
I have a gut feeling Shane is going to be the “face” of the Kraken for the foreseeable future.
This is really cool, awesome that the players were open to talking with your family for a few minutes.
Thank you for asking your kid’s permission to post their photo. That’s a sign of grade A parenting for sure.
I’m jealous all those players were just there to meet 😂 What a cool experience!
What a great memory for your son!
