Love the W but Devils got got in almost the exact same way. Swept the lightening in the regular season and then got lit up in the second round.

I genuinely believe the Oilers are one of our best stylistic matchups. They have a defence core that gets exploited by a fierce forecheck, negative forward depth, and an inconsistent goaltender.
Contain McDrai with our grindy defensive game and wait for our bottom six to roll over theirs. It’s how Vegas beat them last year

All of this means nothing unless we make it to the second round or beyond.
Let’s stay humble.

It’s not just the fans, it’s professional writers towing this line too, which is even worse.
It’s so biased, even Oilers fans are clowning on the writer in the comments.

Oh wow, a rare Brandon Sutter sighting.

None of these game really matter to me though hardcore Canucks fan. Regular season is soo different than the playoffs.
ISame reason why I find it laughable that oilers fans are so cocky when their team has got swept in conference finals a few years ago and kicked out game 6 of second round last year and before that got eliminated by Chicago and Winnipeg

If the VGK get kicked out in the first round I think I’m riding along with the Nux to the end, especially to see them embarrass the Oilers.
ManDe1orean
Um Canucks fan here but same can be applied to us talking about the Canucks making it to the second round without a first string goaltender confirmed yet. Playoffs are completely different from the regular season.

Listening to the Oilers media crying about how JT is a “rat”, “diver”, “dirty”, and “not a well liked person around the league” while their team employs Kane, Perry, Draisaitl etc is pretty funny.

They’re in full copium guzzling mode.

Their logic is that we swept them in the regular season, so in the playoffs, we will underestimate them and they will somehow be the underdog despite having two of the top 3 players in the league. That’s my best guess, at least.
TimsAFK
They shouldn’t care to be honest, the turn around they’ve had this season has been on for the ages, they were done for all money and they finished second in the division.
The reason they have to care, though, is that they’ve had 2 of the best players in the world, including arguably the best, and they haven’t got the job done. They’re running out of time, and they know it.
We’re playing with house money, most fans would’ve crawled through broken glass just to make the playoffs this year, and we’re looking at taking the Pacific and, while extremely unlikely, we can still win the conference. We’ve been first in the league for decent stretches this year, first in the division since what, December? It’s already a win for us, even if some fans have raised their expectations. Edmonton is in cup or bust territory.

Lmao. I hate the Canucks and am an oiler fan. This is hilarious though. Nice work.

I skimmed [this article](https://theathletic.com/5413608/2024/04/14/edmonton-oilers-focus-playoffs/) (Athletic, paywall) this morning and laughed the whole way through.
