A slump going into playoffs isn’t what concerns me, what does concern me is how we’ve played some of our worst hockey all year against our first round opponent. Excited to be proven wrong but yeesh it’s never been a pretty sight against the jets this year
AuntGentleman
I don’t care what the situation is. There is 0 excuse for putting 0 effort into a game this important. The team needs to try, not sit back asleep at the wheel.
SemperFi1025
I have watched the Av’s through some really crappy years but have been an Av’s fan since they arrived. But if they don’t start playing better defense then they will get swept by this team in the first round. We really need Landy to lead them, sucks not having him in our lineup.
speaker4the-dead
I would not be surprised at all if they flick the switch come 4/20 and absolutely steamroll the Jets.
I also won’t be surprised if they fail to flick the switch, and get bounced the first round due to their severity of defensive lapses this year.

Tell me you watched one cup a few years ago without telling me. Nice gatekeeping while having a stupid take.
Do I think the avs will be blown out of the playoffs? No. Is this game concerning? Yes. It was a big game. We lost to the kraken first round last year. Where does that fit onto your booard?
8urfiat
Being upset about getting lit up for 7 isn’t being a bandwagon fan. Being upset about getting blanked isn’t being a bandwagon fan. Being upset watching our goalie throw a second temper tantrum after getting pulled isn’t being a bandwagon fan. Watching all three in one game isn’t being a bandwagon fan.
I’ve been a fan of this team since the early 90s. And loved them in the best and worst times. Yesterday pissed me off because this team is much better than what showed up to play yesterday.
We’re allowed to be upset at that disaster yesterday. That doesn’t make someone a bandwagon fan.
Bazirker
If I recall, end of regular season was pretty rough the year we won the cup.
techno-necromancer
The Avs just got dogwalked 7-0 by their 1st round opponent in an important game that decided who would get the home ice advantage. They’ve played some of their worst hockey against the Jets this year. You’re delusional if you aren’t concerned about this matchup, and it doesn’t make someone a “bandwaggoner” for having doubts.
Lanky_Tomato_6719
Jesus Christ enough of this shit. Whether you’re a Doomer or a Golden Retriever, I don’t give a fuck. Just stop complaining about your own fucking fan base and let people express their opinions. You Americans constantly boasting being the land of the free but god forbid somebody has a different opinion than you. This shit is getting beyond annoying.
Stopper33
I’ve been with the AVS since they existed. This stretch of hockey, especially after they looked so good, and now have looked so lifeless is, at least concerning.
TomBradys-left-ball
I would consider myself to be fairly new to the Avalanche fanbase, mostly because I’m more of a football guy. But growing up in Colorado made me keep track of the Avalanche but I didn’t go full fan until about 4 years ago.
SomeDudeinCO3
I’ve been a fan since the first game and I’m not the least bit worried. Year after year, we see teams battle for home ice or a supposedly favorable matchup and they get bounced in the first round. Let Dallas and Winnipeg put all of their effort/energy into regular season games. Veteran teams like the Avs understand that everbody is 0-0 starting Friday. I’d also much rather have an underdog mindset.
Noox89
Getting your ass whooped is one thing but by your first round opponent in a game that will very likely determine home ice for the series is quite worrisome. We haven’t been competitive against them all season. Luckily regular season match ups don’t usually mean anything in the playoffs.
Playoffs are a different breed but to act like that game isn’t very concerning for even us Vets is dumb.

I dropped over $400 for 2 tickets and things for my 3.5 year old only to be so disgusted we left end of second. She didn’t even get to see a goal! She did get on the jumbo Tron though so I guess she thought that was cool 🤷♂️.
I’m a fan that attended the valentine’s day massacre to the flames many years ago. I knew it’s being dramatic, but this is the worst game I have personally attended since.

Regular season doesn’t mean shit, the real season starts soon then we find out what this team is made of
Sad_Aside_4283
I’ve been a fan of this team pretty much ever since I was old enough to know what hockey was, and this team does not look good or ready. Losing is one thing, but we have gotten absolutely blitzed several times just over the last couple weeks, and we’ve had a lot of bad games like this all season, including a few we managed to pull off a win in.
If you are not concerned, you really don’t have a clue.
ExeTcutHiveE
If the Avs play like they have in April the Jets will beat us in 5 games. Is it dooming? No. We have won 3 games in the last 10 to end the season. If people aren’t concerned about a first round exit they are stupid.
___whatis___
No one can honestly say they have confidence in our goalie tandem and they aren’t the ‘22 AVS that can outscore their problems. Being worried this team as is isn’t a legit contender isnt being a bandwagon fan it’s being honest and realistic.
loldrisio
I have noticed that the most fanatical of fans completely delude themselves and rewrite reality to make their team and its players look better.
KT_introspective
Are we getting 2022 Avs who play with pace and are smart with the puck? Or are we getting 2021/2023 Avs and will be subjected to 60 minutes of keep away. The Kraken series was close to unwatchable because the Avs just couldn’t play wit the puck at all.
That said, real ones always support the boys no matter what. We have Mack/Rants and Toews has been good. We have a chance to go all the way.
TheNerdgasm
Yea I remember the slump heading into the playoffs last year and people saying the same thing only to get knocked out in 7 by the fucking Kraken.

This ain’t the take and honestly just makes you look pretentious. The people who equate doomerism to legitimate criticism on this thread are as bad as the doomers themselves.
The Avs have SUCKED against Winnipeg for quite some time now and have legitimate defensive concerns going into the postseason against a team and coach that plays a style that directly counters ours and has better depth.
The playoff switch is a thing… but this team could also just get dog walked by Winnipeg in 4-5 games.
And for the love of god stop comparing this to the end of the season two years ago. Circumstances were drastically different.

I’ve been watching the Avs since 1998 – when am I allowed to express concerns?
HixWithAnX
Comparing this year to 2022 is apples to oranges. That year, we clinched HOME ICE before they took the foot off the pedal. This year, we played Dallas, Winnipeg, and Edmonton in the last 2 weeks. All games had seeding implications and we gave up at least 6 goals each game.

It’s true you don’t want to overreact, but it’s also true that the concerns go beyond simply “resting” the end of the season to prepare for playoffs. The defense does not look good. Goaltending does not look good. The PK does not look good. And it’s not just a bad look like they’re taking the final few games easy to rest up, it’s a look where it does not appear like they know what they’re doing.
Don’t even have to go farther than Bednar’s own postgame today when asked about Georgie – “I thought he played an okay game, but he’s gotta get a save for the guys.” Nothing overtly bad, aside from the Winnipeg game, but it’s fair to wonder if the switch can actually flip come playoffs.
