Before Savard, Cooke cheap shotted Vinny Lecavalier, who didn't have the puck, in 2nd to last game of the season in 2008. Tampa was in last place at the time. Vinny had been playing with a broken bone in his hand that needed surgery over the summer but it was put off because of the cheap hit. Instead he needed 5 months shoulder rehab. He then played hurt 2008-09 season until missing the last few games to get the hand surgery. Up to & including the 2007-08 season Lecavalier scored 33, 32, 35, 52 and 40 goals. He never scored over 30 goals again in his remaining 8 seasons. Could it have been the shoulder? Or maybe the mindset changed? I doubt he would admit either one, but he was only 28 years old at the time of the shoulder injury. The weasel Bettman finally got his wish (Don Cherry out). Bettman has ruined the game of hockey as we know it. Why did we let someone who has no concept of the game, or any sport for that matter come in and turn nhl into something that is becoming hard to watch, from stupid rules that interfere with the game (having to leave the ice when someone pulls your helmet off) to the inept ability to get the officiating right ( they automatically review every OT goal, so why isn’t every single goal reviewed by off ice officials). It would take mere seconds, teams should not have to risk being short handed when the zebras don’t get it right.

I will always defend this man. I don’t approve of what he said specifically, but I do approve of what he means. He meant everybody. I’m an American, and the Son of a soldier. When I meet immigrants, i very much hope that they appreciate the fact that the reason they came here is because of the ideas that are protected by people like my father, and all those in uniform.
