Joe Veleno boarding on Timothy Liljegren – Tough Call Recommendation
Joe Veleno skated from the red line all the way to the end boards to hit Timothy Liljegren from behind. When I watched this hit live I honestly audibly gasped. I can’t believe this wasn’t a major penalty.
These refs are a frigging joke , they hate TML because our coach screams at the refs so they all hate him and the TML ! Fire Keefe and trade Marner the complainer and TML will get more calls guaranteed!
You don’t get enough recognition for your videos. They’re always bang on and these videos are exactly what need to be seen to prove the disgust that is the NHL’s officiating.
I am SO CONFUSED why everyone has this same reaction. Veleno is incredibly clearly trying to pin Liljgren into the boards, which you see at least 50 times a game. He doesn't extend his arms to push Liljgren, he doesn't throw a shoulder or cross check him, etc. There is nothing malicious. Liljgren's right skate seems to catch, and he goes off balance and faceplants to make it look bad. If that doesn't happen, we're just watching Veleno pin him into the boards while reinforcements come to try to win the puck.

Its a text book boarding major..unless its on a Leaf player as usual. Playoffs will be worse.

You’re doing a great job sir!!
Consider also that the Ref's have the ability to call a major for the purpose of reviewing it.
Against the Leafs? This won't even be reviewed by player safety. Unfortunately that's the reality.
And gutless willy nylander turns the other way.
Not even a thought of the puck, which was right there. Inexplicable, really. Bad play by Joe there.

5 for boarding and a game misconduct. At least 1 game suspension
