Senators Trade Pageau to Islanders for a 2020 1st, 2nd and Conditional 3rd Round Pick

Well, Ottawa has traded Pageau and extracted quite the price in doing so. Apparently the Flyers were on on him as well, but not willing to trade this much to get him.

  1. The Sens top prospects won’t need to wear name tags. They will just need to submit a list of teams that they would like to be traded to, for when Melnyk can’t afford to resign them!

  2. The Isles had a glaring need and took care of it. They already have young prospects like Bellows, Dobson, Wahlstrom, Wilde ect. This is no time to horde picks that may get to the NHL in 3 years. The team is in win now mode and Lou stepped up to the plate. Good deal for both sides.

  3. Ottawa is likely having 2 top 5 picks cause Sharks are terrible and so are they and now you add a mid pick in 1st round of course this a massive win for Ottawa

  4. This is surprising, Pageau was special for the Sens. It is true he is going to probably be too old by the time this team hits its prime so I get it, but I wonder what he was asking for when negotiating with PD

  5. I know that the Islanders needed scoring help and all but don't anybody think that they gave up a lot of draft picks to get Pageau

  6. Well I was surprised to wake up to this. Not sure how I feel really. Would have been nicer a month or two ago when he was scoring a lot but I dunno if this move is going to really add that scoring now. Doesn’t feel like enough. Guess we’ll see.

  7. Islanders are very defensive team and such a offensive player as JGP is definitly someone they need and they need him right now. I know they payed a lot but the prospect player wouldn’t give them any guarantee of success. They just need to fill a missing piece.

  8. Three first round picks in a pretty deep draft. All I'm saying is that Ottawa's scouting BETTER DELIVER and management's continual incompetence BETTER NOT fudge this bounty of opportunity up.
I would've preferred Pager being named captain for next season and re-upped, but I can't complain with the return.

  9. I am going to say something different here. It is possible that Ottawa won this trade. But I do not think GM's look at it like that. If you look at it like that you could build a CORSI team like Toronto. And they may not make the playoffs. What I think matters if it fits your team and helps you more than it hurts. Definitely hurts the Islanders not having a first an a second. But Pageau is not a rental. Also besides chipping in goals he is good on faceoffs and the PK. Which they definitely need. Now they have 4 really solid centers. No superstars there (Barzal is not a superstar yet). But you roll out 4 centers like Barzal, Nelson, Pageau and Cizikas that is good.

  10. Problem, the sens have traded away their next season, and the season after. Moreover, they've also traded away asses in the seats.

  11. Up date, 8/29/20…As an Islander fan, and finally got to see Pageau play, I think the islanders stole this one…That guy is unbelievable !!!! Plus we signed him for 6 years..proud of management for this one !!!!
