  1. POLL: should every player with any criminal conviction be barred from the NHL for life (not factoring in admissibility issues)?

    On a related note, even if the WJC players are found not guilty, they could be barred from the NHL. If convicted, they can still continue overseas after serving their prison sentences (if any). Take Ben Johnson, for example. He was convicted of sexual assault in 2016 for 2 2013 incidents and sentenced to 3 years in prison, paroled after serving 1 year, returned to his home country of the USA, signed with Cincinnati for 3 years, then Kansas City, then overseas after the Mavs cut him. The only way they can be barred from playing overseas would be the IIHF honouring their NHL bans, which happened with Todd Bertuzzi after he attacked Steve Moore on the ice
