The last 2 years of this guys career may go down as one of the worst mismanagements of a legends career of all time. Sid is literally the only person not responsible for it. From the squad in the locker room, to Dubas, to Sullivan, to Fenway sports group….they are all complicit in this monumental failure
A great season for Crosby, the team needs to get a top of the line goalie, a couple defensemen with speed and grit. The GM needs to bring back Jake back, O Conner, Rust with Crosby is the building blocks for the Pens.
What worries me for next year is that the Pens were about as healthy as they could have expected this year. Only Rust, among their best players, missed significant time. Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Karlsson, and a few others played every game this year. Next year, you would have to expect a few more injuries hampering their schedule mid-season. Age will slow guys down a little more again. This was possibly their last best shot at getting hot and making a run. But they need more depth, more defensive accountability when leading late in games and a new PP system. As much as they were winning lately, they weren't always winning the right way. Give up way too many leads. They still weren't playing like true contenders. I don't think they have the depth to do that.

Get the power play working next year and they should be a real threat against anyone.
