Matthews would’ve probably scored at some point if they just played normally the last few games. Forcing everything to him messed up any game structure they might have had, and this is what happens.

The Leafs are an absolutely average hockey team at the very most. There is zero doubt in my mind that they get bounced in the first round again. It is a mindset that so evidently stems from the lack of real leadership on the team. Bunch of softies making way too much money for not having won a thing.

This game is hard to watch. Leafs are coasting by just trying to see the end of the game, except for Matthews line. Meanwhile the Bolts are trying their hardest to get every point. Ultimately it doesn’t matter, but painful hockey

I can all but guarantee Matthews would have cleared 70 if the Leafs hadn’t stopped playing their game to try and feed him.
He scored at a blistering pace, naturally. You cannot force these things unless the opponent’s net is empty all game.
One of the worst periods of the season, only compared to last night, like just absolute needless penalties from everyone, I keep hearing from reporters that the players are trying to hard to get Matthews his 70 but they sure aren’t acting like it

Timing is everything, and the run we went on ended right before the playoffs start. Sometimes it’s just as simple as that.
Leafs have allowed 5 or more goals in the last 4 games across 3 different goalies. I know these games are “meaningless” but kinda hard to see how they turn it on for playoffs. I want to believe I truly truly do but the eye test is making it hard to get on board this year.

For everyone thinking Nylander isn’t a completely selfish and lazy player doesn’t realize he’s been doing this for years. He played well for a few months to a big contract and now he’s back to being a bum.
