Does Meruelo have the money to finance the entire development project, because I suspect the condos / stores / entertainment, etc. is where the money will be made.
Ideally, NHL Expansion from 32 to 36 teams. Phase 1: Phoenix (West) and Atlanta (East). Phase 2: Houston (West) and either another eastern Canadian or American city (Quebec City is the only real option), or another expansion team in the West and move Nashville or Chicago from the West to the East.
The Yetis is the obvious choice Great jerseys and logo in the samples, not to mention the merchandising which would be by far the most lucrative for both kids and adults.
I expect the fans to be pissed, but don't be pissed at Salt Lake City, as the bad ownership is to blame, they should've never moved to Glendale in the first place that's what did them in. If they stayed in downtown Phoenix, and had better ownership, I'm sure they'd still have a team in Phoenix today. Matt Ishba's ownership of the Suns is the same thing too. He wanted Bealle the injury prone schlemeal for the Suns he traded 1/2 of last yrs team away to get a schlemeal like Beal. No wonder we are going into NBA playoffs in bottom seed #6 in Western Conference. Ishba must have had a long talk hopefully chewing out of Beal before his 32 pt performance against the Timberwolves in Minneapolis the other night. We must have 40+ pts a night from him Durant and Booker. Grayson Allen's 3 pt performance has been superb and has gotten us to the playoffs in Spite of Beal. However no team not even the Celtics can go through the playoffs and win the hardware with just relying on 3 pt shooting. Jerry Coangelo DELIVERED A CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2001 after only 1st getting on the MLB map in 1998. High time the other owners in this town did the same. Anthony Merello could have had the new arena on the N.Phoenix Scottsdale line completed starting from the days before Glendale terminated his lease at Desert Diamond Arena and moved there. Or even easier sign the 20 yr committment deal Glendale asked him to do in the damn 1st place. God forbid can you immagine if the Celtics, Bruins, Yankees, NY Rangers ever pulled this crap against their cities and municipalities. The owners would be roasted & grilled in court like where Trump is now for the same reason falsifying business records to get sweetheart deals. Arizona had their chance and didnt support them but now the fans are sad? The fact they were playing in 4600 seat college arena and still couldn’t sell out a lot of games is an embarrassment. Salt Lake will be great for them.
SLC only has a metro of about 1.2 million people, almost 50th in the country. Just don't see why they are in the market for anything beyond the NBA and NHL…
