To be a true Cup contender, the Habs probably need veteran presence of Stamkos calibre. But the tax advantage in Tampa is too tempting for Stamkos to stay with the Lightning.
If Stam and drai both end up in Montrael. Wow
I hope not. Tried that crap years ago by taking #4. We don’t need another old leftovers from tampa
I dont think mtl , mtl needs a good YOUNG player not a guy on his way out.
yzerman turning detroit into a retirement home 😭
TB only has about $11M in space to sign 7 players. If they sign 6 at the minimum, they'll have about $5M to lock up Stamkos. Not enough meat on the bone to get that done.
Pay more taxes and winter or sunny florida and no taxes? Hmmmm
Habs have to deal with what they have in the system now before they start trading prospects to make room for Stamkos!
Montreal is still a few years out in the rebuild. Fits in Detroit if they can resign Kane with potentially Compher on the other wing. That would give them a missing piece behind Larkin for a few seasons and should be enough to get them in the playoffs coupled with a goalie upgrade.
Absolutely not. Unless we're getting him on free agency and giving up nothing other than salary.
Cost is going to be too much, we have other needs
Stammer and Kane has me feeling tingly
No thanks
Lmfao you think we’re letting stamkos go??? GET REAL
Patrick Kane and Stamkos on Detroit as the second line would be pretty great for Detroit and I'm not a Detroit fan. Boston, Toronto, Colorado have been competitive teams but I'm missing having Detroit and new jersey in the mix.
Stamkos and Kane sounds cool together but at this age both are done with any type of back checking ore defense. You can really have one of those guys.
Zero chance Habs are looking for any mid 30's vets on their way out…..can you say YOUTH!!
stamkos needs to come to montreal to take the captain from sazuki.. if that happens the habs would be contenders next year!!!!! sazuki although he is our best player, he isnt a leader or captain material. he would move over for a veteran captain like stammer or traveris or a tkacuck
I literally said a few days ago I wouldn't be surprised if Stevie went after Stamkos considering we have no 2nd line right now. Stamkos would be crazy to leave Florida for Detroit lol but imagine if Stevie can talk him into it and we resign Kane🥶
There is no way MTL is taking an older player at that price…. HUGO made it clear that THEY will not sign an expensive player especially if they need to dish out a long term contract. Cap space is needed to for contract extensions on Ghule and Slav and Wifi, and cap space is required for a big move this year.
Not good fit for mtl or stamkos he would want too go cup contender
It would be interesting if the Wings can't find common ground with Kane to (not literally, but metaphorically) trade him out for Stamkos. You're basically getting the same type of player, albeit with subtle yet defined differences, and would fill the role of "all-star offensive guidance for young bucks" that Kane filled so well for guys like Raymond and Debroincat. It'd definitely be time to dip into cap savings though.
Stamkos wants to stay in Tampa, I'm betting he'll take a massive pay cut to stay.
With that said, I'd love for Detroit to bring him in on a 2 year deal, cuz I dont think kane is coming back.
