  1. If you think they don’t all act on emotion. You’re stupid.
80% of the refs are corrupt AF. They should be investigated by law enforcement. Wes should be in jail

  2. Every major sport has it's own terrible ref, MLB has Angel Hernandez hated by fans and players. Basketball has/had Hue Hollins, you can add Joe West in the MLB but no one was worse than Hernandez. He once threw Steve McMichael out of the park after singing the 7th inning stretch and saying Hernandez was blowing calls. Umps have the ability to throw players and coaches out of the game for arguing bad calls but not fans and Steve was there as a fan since he had no contract with either team. Umps can't even throw out Announcers who argue but Hernandez's giant ego was hurt so bad he tossed Mongo out and security not knowing he didn't have that power, they escorted McMichael out of the park. I haven't watched sports other than MAYBE 5 minutes of any type of game so I couldn't tell you who the worst in the NFL is, they all miss calls so that might be a toss-up. So at the 7:04 mark you said "Burrows's claim could not be substantiated" IMMEDIATELY followed by "and that Auger's intentions were beyond reproach". How could the not find evidence yet call his actions beyond reproach? If they didn't find anything they would've never been able to make that severe claim.

  3. He is now in charge of referee development for Hockey Quebec. Scary. Also the hit on Burrows was not diving. The issue was after he was plastered into the boards, he went to get up and he fell down. Which has never happened after a hard hit either clean or dirty.

  4. I hate Alex Burrows but, there is no way on this planet either of those calls were penalties. What a disgrace.

  5. I wonder if Auger was gambling on some of these games and got busted. That would definitely keep him from challenging his retirement.

  6. You've forgotten to mention that Burrows is a troublemaker , that is when he is not biting someone's finger.
He fakes his first plunge, by making it look like he was injured.
Auger was right Burrows made the game look bad.
Auger was still a very good referee and not "The Worst Referee"

  7. I'm fairly certain that game in Vancouver (and maybe one or two more assignments on the same trip) was the last time Auger crossed the Rockies to work an NHL game. I watched the newspaper summaries for the next year and he was confined to the East and given time off when the Canucks visited for a season and a half before he reffed another Vancouver game against (of course) the Islanders! When the league announced 'nothing to see here' a few days later the Canucks released to the media the pre-game footage showing clearly that the league was looking the other way. $2500 is a ridiculously small fine for criticizing a referee the way Burrows did and I thought it would be 10-20x higher with a lengthy suspension. Burrows would have been better off to write down his recollection of the discussion, seal it in an envelope, find a reporter after the warm-up and give him the envelope with instructions to open it after the game. That would have proved his case and Auger would be toast. But who can blame him for not believing what Auger was saying. As for Ron MacLean's reaction, it was predictable: Vancouver being strong has never been in HNIC's interests.

  8. This is an article written 4/1/2024: Stephane Auger, a name that once stirred considerable controversy in the NHL, remains a figure of intrigue and discussion long after his departure from the league. Auger's career as an NHL referee was marked by incidents that sparked debates on officiating integrity, player-referee dynamics, and the pressures faced by officials in professional sports.
