How Hyman went from 4th liner to elite goal scorer

Zach Hyman had a career year in 2023/2024. Once labeled a 4th line checker, how did he become a 54 goal scorer at age 31? Jesse Pollock puts the Oilers’ forward, Into Focus.

  1. He went from a 4th liner to an elite player and it’s not hard to figure out. Darn, a fire hydrant is good for about 30 goals playing alongside McJesus …Hallelujah

  2. Take a 20ish goal scorer, place him with the best player in the game and another good player, profits? You honestly can't call Hyman an "elite scorer" , put him on his own line and see if he can even do anything.

  3. How? Because you don't get points checking for Matthews and marner, you get points being wide open for McDavid.

  4. Elite goal scorer? He will never come close to this total again just like Nuge last year with 100 points to not even a point a game player this year. He is at the end of his prime and a lot of those goals either banked off of him, took very little skill etc…

Elite goal scorers can take over a game which Hyman can’t do that.

  5. So the take away from the salty leaf fans is anyone could get these points next to McDavid, hyman is a low skill bum benefitting from his situation.

For how much hype Matthews and Marner get you think they would have been able to elevate Hyman?

  6. 3 games into the playoffs, Hyman has the same amount of GOALs as the Leafs entire team!
