Trade him and a 3 round draft pick to Toronto for Nazem Kadri. It tightens up Toronto’s defense and gives Columbus help down the middle and helps scoring.
They were going to move on from him at some point but right now, there doesn’t seem to be much to get in return with how bad he’s been.
THG, I realize you can't be super familiar with every team, but in this case, you're a little off base with the relationship Jack has with the team. The dude neads cash. His primary concern is going to be term, since he doesn't have much of any nest egg like other guys his age in the NHL. Torts took the 'A' off of Dubinski this year ( a player he really likes) and gave it to Jack Johnson. Jack became one of Torts' go-to guys for shoot-outs this season. There's a good relationship there and with the team. He wants out because he realizes there's a very good chance Gabriel Carlson takes his spot next year, putting him on the UFA market after a down year playing on the bottom pairing. He wants the trade for a chance to prove himself worthy of the kind of contract he needs with bigger minutes.

@Thehockeyguy I hope you read this. Love your content and hope you dont see this as bashing or attacking watch every video video. You haven't been super up to date on CBJ events and especially Torts style as a coach. You can only know so much about so many so I can't blame you haha.
JJ had that issue with bankruptcy and his parents robbing him so he needs money and he knows he isn't getting it with Columbus right now. Because the CBJ depth and his play he is getting less time he can't prove his worth in what will be his last chance to get big money. Torts literally said after the news broke he wants JJ to have a bigger role and if we are planning on making it deep in the playoffs we need JJ and need him on his game. JJ in 20+ playoff games is nearly a ppg. 21 in 24ish maybe it's close to that. Torts loves JJ and sees him as a leader going as far as stripping Dubi of the A and giving it to JJ.
So I just wanted to get you the info that Torts really likes JJ and I doubt he pushes for the trade likely will try and convince him to stay and that the sole reason he wants out is because the money he needs because his parents robbed him. If he had a 5 year deal right now JJ would never complain he started last year as the bottom pair too. It's not because playing time or losing.
Also yes our scoring is low but we have had major injuries taking out a big chunk of our scorers and we had the worst PP in the league for basically the entire 1st half. But historically we are a defend first team and we spread out scoring. Basically we would rather 12 guys get 15 goals then 3 get 30 3 20 and the rest trickle out.
Just want to give you the opinions of CBJ nation and the information you might not know because you have to follow 31 teams as close as possible as opposed to me knowing everything possible about 1 and knowing the surface stuff of the rest because your videos haha. Take care brother!!

Marginal value at best….3 mill max… but a lot of teams are hurting for a possible top 2nd or 3rd line D….so maybe 4 mill max… I don't know why, but it seams Torts system tends to create more of a burn out mentality with players than other teams in the ridiculously long NHL season….or maybe I'm just reading into how I would feel on a day to day basis playing for this guy over a course of a couple crazy long and grueling seasons with his system.. nevertheless, I bet his numbers and D play improves 2 – 3 fold in a different more positive environment….
I think he should go to Ottawa. I think Ottawa is gonna give up Chris Wideman and a 3rd and 4th pick for the guy. Wideman is going to be traded and everyone knows it. Hes ok with the bottom pairing minutes he'll be getting in Columbus. Ottawa needs that veteran d-man to replace the hole that Marc Methot left when he was claimed by Vegas. Im sorry but Johnny Oduya is not good enough for 20 minutes a game.

JJ, Boone Jenner, and a 2nd or 3rd pick to Toronto for William Nylander. No possible way the leafs sign Nylander, Matthews, Kaspari, all together. CBJ add great offensive fire power, Toronto sticks JJ on the 2nd pairing and goes for a playoff push. JJ proves his worth, and then signs somewhere else in the offseason. Win for everybody.
