If firing Reirden was a power play, then he'd still be on the Penguin's staff.

Is it my imagination – probably so – but RG seemed to decline as the year went on with him starting on a good note.
DK, when we put Graves aside, Reirden had a pretty good reputation with defenders. Why wasn't he employed to run the pk? Was it no option to switch Velucci to take over the pp midseason?
The hiring of Reirden's replacement may tell us more than we learned from the generic statement from Dubas announcing his dismissal.
Toronto was just eliminated again from the playoffs as they had been for years under Dubas. This Dubas fellow is overrated as hell. A Toronto youtube channel pointed out that three players that he let go have more goals in both the regular season and the playoffs as his core group for eight million less. Aside from Eller the players he put together suck.. especially the big contract for Karlson. He resigns Jarry for five million a year and how'd that work out? Giving away his first round draft pick in the process.. Rebuild?
Yes he got rid of a couple of bad contracts…. but wtf is Karlson's
Dubas produced Nothing in Toronto… history will repeat itself in Pittsburgh..
A young team looking to develop their youngsters would be wise to grab him . Wait a tic , pens need a guy like in that in another 3 yrs or so …….🤪
