Nikita Kucherov has been named a Hart Trophy Finalist

From Chris Krenn on Twitter: Nikita Kucherov has been named a Hart Trophy finalist for the second time in his career after a historic 2023-24 season. Kucherov led the NHL in points (144), points per game (1.78), power-play points (53), road points (75), assists (100, tied) and primary assists (62, tied) while ranking second in even-strength points (91) and becoming just the fifth skater and first winger in NHL history to log 100 assists in a single season. The All-Star forward set #Bolts franchise records in assists, points, even-strength points, power-play points, multi-assist games (26), three-assist games (11, tied), four-assist games (4), multi-point games (41), three-point games (23), four-point games (8, tied) and five-point games (3). His 23 three-point games led the NHL while the only skaters with more in a single season in NHL history are Gretzky, Lemieux, Esposito, Yzerman, Jagr and Nicholls. Kucherov became the third player in NHL history to score 40 goals and add 100 assists in a single season as he led the NHL in scoring for 129 days, 97 more than any other skater. He’s looking to become the 20th skater in NHL history to win the Hart Trophy multiple times.

I’m betting it goes to Mackinnon at this point. Getting bounced in 5 games is going to sway some voters, unfortunately. We all know how important he was to this team this year, and he deserves the nom, and probably the win, but the sports media has been itching to give it to Mac.
