[Lingan] Preds HC Andrew Brunette says this was only the second time in his career that he left a best of 7 series and wasn’t convinced that the best team won

I’m not surprised Nashville lost the series, but the Canucks have to realize they didn’t play well either. Besides JT Miller their only other consistent offensive threat was Zadorov.

Copium bong rips from Bruno.

IDK about this one, we looked like absolute dog shit most of the series, hence why we lost. Somehow professional hockey players forgot how to pass and clear easy pucks out of the zone. I feel like that is the equivalent to an nfl receiver wide open on a 10 yards pass and just drops a ball for no reason. I get shit happens but how did we go from not losing to not completing easy open passes so quickly? I feel that kills all momentum in each game, it happened over and over and over. It is like the guys had never played together and there was no chemistry.

Yeah I’m not so sure about that Bruno. We held em admirably but we also got our shit pounded by them in the regular season with no substantial retooling at the trade deadline. A 4-2 series is definitely respectable, and of those 4 were 1 goal games. Just take the close series and build for next year.

When you give up two ENGs in <3 min and then the GWG in OT to lose a game on home ice, yeah, you deserve to lose the series. As I heard it put earlier this week, I’m not mad about the series outcome, but I AM mad about that inexplicable G4 collapse.

I think this is more of a “we didn’t play to our potential” take rather than “we were better than them, so I’m surprised they won” take, which I think is fair

I wouldn’t read too much into this. He’s proud of his guys and he’s publicly hyping them up. It’s just good coaching and good PR.
Comparing rosters top to bottom, Vancouver is simply the better team. They’re further along in their roster building process than we are.
But man did the coaching and team execution impress me. Bruno came up with a strategy tailored to oppose Vancouver’s talents and gameplans based on the level of talent and abilities he had to work with, and our guys went out and executed it very well. After a coach like Hynes who did zero adjusting at all, it was not only refreshing but made me optimistic for the future.

The way I read this is ‘we could’ve done better and if we hadn’t made the mistakes we did we were truly the better more rounded team and at least two of those games should’ve been ours and that’s on us.’ Not that the Canucks couldnt have done better too but really that series was ours to take and we perded too hard in key moments.
True they smashed us in season but those were before we really started gelling as a team under the new system. The fact is we mostly shut them down well and just gave up too many chances.
Bruno is simultaneously giving praise to the team for the effort and skill they DID show but also reminding them that he expects way more out of them next time.
It’s not just praise or copium and it’s not just reprimanding. It’s a dash of both in a media news way

If Brunette turns this team into SC contenders than I am completely on board with some delusional shit talking

But, they did. A 3rd string goalie beat him.
