This is yet another cover for Shanahan. Keefe was hired by Dubas and Dubas by Shanahan. Shanahan has been there for ten years and has achieved nothing with two top 10% players and the best goal scorer of the generation. It is a safe bet that within an hour of being terminated, he already had job offers in his back pocket. He is only 43 years old, and is guaranteed a salary while he decides his next move. He looked both relieved and confident in his farewell video. Oh and BTW, The GOAT–Scotty Bowman, lost in the Play-offs 18 times.
