This is… not great

  1. Like others have said, it takes ten seconds to check if this is real or not. Also, this would have made international news, so, I don't know what Steve is on about.
It would have been cool, but it's way too optimistic and unrealistic. Due dilligence. Or Steve selling out? I can't wait to hear what he has to say.
They didn't address it on the latest podcast, so…

  2. I just can't believe Steve got burned like that and that he didn't do his due diligence. It was a weird video full of hearsay. An odd glitch in the matrix.

  3. 30M salary cap per team in year one is insane, major red flag. Hell some NHL teams would still lose money if the salary floor was at 30M (maybe not today, but go back even 10 years and both Arizona and Florida would be there)

  4. What Ecks me even more = Leaf Nation talking about the Leafs eight days a week instead of an exciting playoff

  5. Steve Dangles judgment was compromised as he hadn't yet recovered from the trauma of the Leaves choking again in the playoffs. 😶‍🌫️🙄

  6. didn't make sense to begin with. NHL players wouldn't be bothered… retired NHL players won't be bothered to train, and all the sudden a market pops up out of the blue?? no official press releases either.

  7. This is the inevitable consequence of the watering down of the game and rule for American audiences. 3v3 overtime. Shootouts. Goalie trapezoid. Gimmick corporate marketing teams like Ducks and Vegas. All terrible perversions of the game. This new league is just the logical end game the NHL. They just beat Bettman to it.

  8. To his credit when the backlash came rolling in he listened and retracted instead of making excuses or doubling down.

Bet he'll do his diligence from ow on.

  9. If hockey had that kind of money, the nhl would be beholden to the broadcasting bulls#it that we have to put up with the blackouts.

  10. If it did happen on that scale I feel it would water down the NHL. Being 3 on 3 the scores would be like in lacrosse, but it would not feel like hockey watching a full games of that. People that actually love hockey and the defensive aspects would not watch it much and it would attract similar to lacrosse. Like it's a pro sport, but not really in the "big four" and I would not want to see them use most of the cap on a star player and give the others in the thousands. That would actually take from the NHL. It's fine to try new things, but going up against any major sports league just does not work in this day and age.

  11. Steve got kicked while he was down from the Leafs loss. It was a vulnerable time for him 😅
