Please! I hope Matthews doesn't go on another record goal scoring hunt. He needs to change his style of play and be more of a facilitator. This will make him a better playoff performer.
People are insane if they think you can vet a better Morgan Reilly for under 7 million , get real , problem is how much the forwards are being paid , not the defence

Leafs spent the last 5 games chasing 70 goals for Mathew rather than focusing on the playoffs.

Ship Marner and Reilly to Nashville for Saros. Many problems solved with one trade.
Something has to change,paying around 50+M for 5 players is shortchanging your team on the other 16 players, it is a unworkable concept. Treliving needs to move one or two of the big salaries, and get a reliable goalie and a good all round Dman who can shoot from the point on the PP, to even up the way the team is built, and I dont want to hear players ever talk about "looks" and "touches" again, they sound more like beauticians than hockey players.
I have no problem with Marner. He was the set-up man for Tavaras and is now setting up Mathews. Who will set up Mathews. Marner has hockey sense and sees the ice well. Everyone remembers the Carolina game in 2019. I have no problem with Marner except his salary and production in the playoffs. His pouting didn't help.
Of the four, Marner is the one with the most heart. Talk about trade is a waste of time until they know whonthe coach is and figure out who theu want ro trade for. It's not like they have a magic wand. Tavares is the least effective of them. I don't see him as having the skills or the leadership qualities they need.
Riley should go did nothing in the playoffs ,has the weakest shot on the team never improved, bad play on last goal in game 7 was he's left d man stayed on the right missed his man
I don't see anyone giving Marner 12 mil per. He was overpaid with his last contract. Marner would be better off playing out his contract and playing well this coming year.
Morgan is the only guy who shows up. He's not a physical defenseman but he gives everything on the ice. I hope they give him the c. Nothing else will do

Start by trading Matthews to show that nobody is untouchable when they fail to produce in playoffs. Trade Marner, Nylander, Tavares and Reilly. Bring up Marlies
If the Leafs are serious (which they aren't) they would trade all four.
Guys, i hate to be a broken record, but Marner isnt getting traded. Tavares isnt getting traded, Nylander isn't getting teaded, Matthews 100% isn't getting traded and Reilly isn't getting traded.
They all have no movement clauses and all want to be in TO.
Its going to take a miracle to get any of them to leave

Marner needs to go to a team like detroit or even calgary where they're trying to get into the playoffs. Tavares wont get traded, but they need to stop with the core 4 bs. Its next to impossible to have playoff success when you're basically relying on 4 guys to produce instead of adding more depth. Its insane how long they've had this core 4 and the excuses they've used to keep them together year after year.
I mean, Treliving did good bringing guys like Bertuzzi and Domi in, and its only his 1st year still. Imo, its Shanny who's the problem over there 🤷♂️

rielly is only present d man with points, so can't trade until that is replaced, until then, but team wins w/out him, not good in own end, no shot from the point, like other offensive d men but they are all small. nice guy, has NMC, so just keep getting R side stay at home partner, lyubhushkin. Tavares has one year left, NMC, but give Matty the C. changing supporting cast is just cosmetic. so only trade Marner, not being resigned, will walk if not traded, so must trade asap.
Marner,Brodie,Reilly and Tavares for a bag of pucks and a decent set of Defence.

only player to be traded, Marner. TOR needs 2nd line ctr, 2 top-four d men, reliable goalie. no playoff team will offer equal value. He will not wave NMC for teams that players are fleeing. and he needs good linemates. = Columbus. Columbus can give up center Boon Jenner, D man Provorov, & /or 1st pick. that leaves cap space to sign UFA goalie (Talbot) and Dman like Pesce.

Yes, from the middle to late 1970s, I have been a Leafs fan. I'm used to the Leafs losing more often than they are to winning. Nothing new here. Furthermore, no Canadian team has won the Cup since 1993.
Marner should be traded to the lgbtq league. He would fit right in.
As soon as Brad Treliving signed Nylander to that ridiculous contract for the NHL biggest floater I knew either he wasn't calling the shots or if he is he knows NOTHING about building a winning team.
understand I have my opinion and that person did too. yeah Mitch did feed Matthews the puck a lot only in the season, but look at Domi feeding the puck to Matthews in the playoffs.
