Despite the general mood, the series isn’t over.

Until Dallas notches the 4th win there is still hope.

If any team can turn it around, they can.

Maybe it’s a huge dose of hopium, but I don’t really care. Ride or die. If they die, resurrect the team with a C and try again.

Stars are too good top to bottom. We’re cooked. Don’t see us making this a series. Only player who showed up this series was Georgie and that’s saying something. Would’ve been a sweep if not for him.

    Oh and Val, fuck you.

Last night really felt like rock bottom for this team. No matter what happens tomorrow night I will still die an Avs fan and I truly believe they assembled a Stanley Cup-worthy roster when healthy. I believe in the management of this group to find the best solution for the Val situation, for both parties.

That being said, Dallas still has to win 4. Now is the time for RECKLESS OPTIMISM and nothing else. We have gone into their barn before and scraped out gutsy wins. We have two of the 3 best players on the fucking planet. We have the Halifax Homies back together in the fucking playoffs!!! We have a tendie that has stared the collective hockey WORLD in the eyes this playoff run and made them blink. One shift at a time, focus on working harder and executing better than the guys on the other team. We win in Dallas and it is an entirely new series. LETS GO AVS

The situation we are in is upsetting me more than it should because it’s just a game but god damn.. I’m also worried about the team going forward after this year. Looking grim.

I can understand game 4. That kind of news right before a game would have broken any locker room.

But man…. If this team has anything left to fight for, they’ll come out and score first in game 5. No Nichushkin or not, it is beyond unbelievable and inexcusable on the part of the whole team that they haven’t found a way to lead at ANY point this series. Just find a way to make these fuckers chase us for ONCE.

Georgiev and Wood stole game 1. We need everyone else to “balls to the wall” it now and take a note out of Carolina’s playbook. They lost 3 straight and have won 2 straight.

We have nothing left to lose.

Maybe if Toews played we wouldn’t have collapsed like that. But I just think the second year in a row Nuke doing this to us was too demoralizing for the team. I was really looking forward to this game and thought we could bounce back.

Dallas is too strong this year for any sort of major loss like this. It’s too bad, we put together a really strong team this year. Nuke let them all down.

I’ll always hold out the small amount of hope we can do something amazing, but I am a realist and would rather be surprised than have expectations and be crushed.

Ty 🙏🙏🙏 my post failed this morning I guess.

Poor Parise coming back for one more year for this bullshit

  9. el_loco_avs

We need Toews back and we need Bednar to find some adjustments to get us going again. We’re Not out yet! A bit of luck would be nice too

Game 4 made me feel like the boys are mentally golfing already. I really hope they can snap out of it, but I’m walking into game 5 expecting nothing. As Floki once said: “ One Must Always Think The Worst, Ragnar, Even Of Your Own Kin. That Way You Avoid Too Much Disappointment In Life”

  11. Level_Watercress1153

It looks grim. We gotta win 3 in a row, with two of those being in Dallas. Does it happen? Probably not. Can it happen? Yes. Especially with this team. Do I hate what happened yesterday? Absolutely. Am I mad at Val? A little bit. More disappointed. I don’t hate the guy. I want nothing but best for him. Not just in hockey, but in life. Dude has some demons and a major problem. I’d wager that more of us have a loved one who’s battled/battling addiction whether you know it or not. Hell, some of us are battling addiction.

This team was constructed beautifully, and we all had extremely high hopes and expectations. Especially after the Winnipeg series when most of us thought Georgiev was dead. This is a very talented team. The core is together, and will continue to be together for a good amount of time. Does that include Val? I don’t know. I hope it does, but if not ok I understand and I trust Sakic and Co to make the best decision moving forward for all parties involved. They took a wild gamble on Val when they gave him that contract and as far as a hockey standpoint it was a no brainer. From a human being standpoint I don’t think anyone could have predicted this.

I don’t think Bednar needs to be fired. I think that’s an emotional gross overreaction to being disappointed. Win or lose, I’ll be back next October with the 8 on my back and the crest on my chest. I know Val’s contract has a NMC and has 6 years left on it with over $6M a year dinging the wallet, but maybe we get to keep Drouin now (again the contract I know.) I don’t know. What I do know is that the Avs and 30 other teams will spend the summer trying to get better and figure out where and why they came up short and what can they do to address it and I trust this ownership group to do that.

  12. Shaneisonfire

The fact that we haven’t even lead for one second is terrible

  13. Man, why couldn’t Val just “””injure his spleen””” like Mark Stone so we could at least get the cap space back

  14. *Some clarification about when megathreads are declared since there was some confusion on that last night:*

We rarely declare an explicit megathread, but our various GDT/PGT/Après Ski/ODT/OWT/OMT are recurring megathreads with a fancy label.

Historically, explicit megathreads have been declared when:

    – a developing crisis has occurred, akin to last night

    – a place is needed for a coordinated effort by members in the subreddit, e.g. for /r/place

    – a live event not otherwise best served by a GDT label is ongoing, e.g. the Draft

    Megathreads are considered when:

    – some event will generate a ton of engagement

    – there is likely to be a lack of high-quality iterations on the story

    – there are multiple things happening on the same day

The outcomes we seek from megathreads is:

    – a common channel for folks to discuss an event

    – a main page that is not polluted by the same thing over and over

    – ease of moderation in particularly toxic stories

Tl;dr: annoying policy bullshit & I hope you can see what the janitors are thinking. We probably should just write a wiki at this point and tell folks to RTFM

  15. Early last season I thought the window on this team was closing if we don’t have Landy. I got downvoted, and told how much talent we have. True story, but I still believe this assertion and it isn’t a “told you so” thought, it is a grovel. We need our captain back. We saw it in the years leading up to the cup, when Gabe would be injured or suspended, it was a different team without him that snapped back a bit upon his return. That’s what the past two seasons feel like. MacK, Mikko, and now Cale are great alternates, but none have replaced Gabe’s leadership, even in aggregate. For a while last year, I thought Rants was stepping up as the vocal leader, but right now their body language is deflated. Maybe Devon Toews could be that guy, but he is not today. I have no idea if Landy will return. I sort of doubt it, but I sure hope so. I think with his guaranteed money, he’ll be “working towards” for the next 5, and we won’t move forward. That said, I don’t want to go forward, I want O Captain back and that window forced open. None of this solves the “Val problem” or the Stars neutral zone, but those are smaller problems when the heart is in it. At least go down swinging, boys.

  16. When I was young, I was the kind of person who would judge the shit out of addicts and the likes. I used to think I would never have issues when I grew up because I had the mental fortitude to turn down drugs and alcohol. Then life happens… been struggling for years. I’ve had ups and downs, but oh man, it’s a devastating condition to battle when you feel like you’re already starting from rock bottom.

Wish Nuke all the best, coming from someone who struggles, I mean it sincerely. But actions have consequences, and I would still prefer for the Avs to move on from him at this point. His unreliability will tank our Cup window. It’s just not fair to the team or the fans. If the Avs can release him, they should, and then I just hope he can make another team happy one day with lesser expectations.

  17. Big_Liability

Gotta get a lead next game.

Panthers last playoffs were in this exact situation against the best team in hockey. They were down 3-1 and lost both game 3 and 4 at home. They rallied back. WE ARE NEVER GIVE UP

  18. Appleanche

You know I remember when the trade deadline happened, MacKinnon just mentioned how prior the locker room didn’t really feel “right” and then you had stuff with Toews calling guys out, etc.

I just think back to last season and it felt like a complete slog for the team and even as a fan. The amount of injuries, people being out, injury saga with Landeskog, etc. I thought this season would feel so much different this year but at times, even with less injuries there’s been aspects of that slog feel that we had in 22-23.

I kind of wondered why that is, because we witnessed some amazing moments like MacKinnon breaking the franchise point totals, streaks, having overall a great record, etc. I look at the team on the ice and outside of a few they don’t really seem like they have fun playing at nearly any point this season.

I know part of that is the team’s only goal is to win a cup, and so regular season success, and even first round success means little to nothing to them as a group, but there’s just felt something off. Even with the 21-22 team, the expectations were cup or bust but you still had them having fun, sticking up for each other, having swagger. I remember Nate talking about how much Kadri’s attitude and stuff helped make things fun and give the team a swagger. This team feels so ridged and serious all the time.

So all that being said it really felt the team was mentally and physically checked out, maybe the Val news was the breaking point to where they’re just ready to turn the page and end the season. I guess we’ll see in game 5 if they come out with any fight and resolve or not.
