>According to multiple sources, TFP has learned several teams have poked around on the potential availability of defencemen Mattias Samuelsson.
>Samuelsson, 24, is going to enter the second year of a seven-year, $30 million contract and comes with a healthy salary cap hit of just over $4.285 million per season.
>While teams have inquired, Adams has told them he is not interest in parting with the young blueliner.
>A number of NHL clubs are trying to upgrade or augment their defensive corps this off-season and have been exploring their options. Similarly, as TFP’s David Pagnotta reported on Sunday, Montreal has generated interest in rearguard Arber Xhekaj, but the Canadiens are not interested in moving him, either.
>The Sabres are expected to pursue adding a third line centre this summer, as well as a top-six winger, but moving Samuelsson is not expected.

Don’t see any trade with him in it that makes us better this year

Keep him. He’s a solid d man. Trade picks for better players. We need to be in a win now mode for the next decade.

Don’t discuss it too intensely, you’ll injure him again.

This is the guy we should be moving. Front of the net he’s awful for a defensive defensemen. He also misses half a year roughly. He’s by far more expendable now
SergeantBleuCheese
Please keep him. He probably won’t project out to be the most special defensive defensemen, but I’d like to keep our Zadarov this time instead of other teams finding Samuelsson’s grit beyond his current play
Also I saw him get drafted so I’m biased. I’d like to see a defensemen we drafted outside a first overall pick, succeed on the big club

Im with Adams. We finally have a solid young d-core. Dont mess it up. Let them grow together, and improve the offense and bottom 6.
I can’t tell you how frustrating it would be to see another solid young defenseman playing meaningful minutes deep into the playoffs… for another team.
Samuelson is the type of player/contract that if he were on another team we’d be saying “he’s exactly the kind of guy we need to trade for!”

He’s a good d-man when he’s not hurt. Oh wait . . . .
GIR-C137
Is he better than Jonas Glassthenhaler

Glass Samuelsson?

I don’t see Samuelsson being traded right now. He had a down year even when healthy, so I really doubt any team is going to give up much for him – there is a lot of risk in his contract. On the other hand, I really doubt Buffalo is going to give him away at a discount considering he still has potential to be a average to above average defensive dman, something we don’t have besides him.

Seems like Adams never passes up a chance to get younger and 24 is getting up there for this roster
