Why would they stay? The team has goalie, defense and depth problems that need to be addressed first.

Canucks are a better team than the Oilers, even though the Oilers have the better high end.
This shows the most in 5v5, the Canucks have been solid throughout, and even in game 3 the Oilers never scored a goal at even strength.
Because the Oilers as good as they are, are definitely over rated and over hyped because of how destructive McDavid and Draisaitl are. They are not as complete a team as Vancouver is. Nucks in 7
Simple, Oilers have had no secondary 5×5 scoring and subpar goaltending. As much as I hate the Canucks theyโre also playing well.

They're up 2 games for the same reason all the playoffs are going the way they are… Game management by the NHL. They have to let the Canucks win some games or it wouldn't be interesting. Plus, McDavid's high stick on Hughes was the reason the refs switched teams for the next game but tonight I expect to see the refs back to playing for the Oilers again.

There were two Oilers on the bench throwing punches at Zadorov, after he hit Kane in there. They only penalized one of them. In the big ruckus after the game, Hyman came roaring in to cross check Zadorov in the face and he needed stitches. No fine or suspension. Soucy should have been suspended, but McDavid didn't even get a fine by the big two hander and most East Coast hockey media cut a few seconds off the clip so you don't see the slash and assume McDavid was protecting a puppy behind the net or something.
Oilers should be up 2:1 and we have a completely different discussion. Idk why fans need to exaggerate all the time and not using their brains before they comment. No one says the Oilers suck, no one says the Canucks suck. Both great teams with different strength and weaknesses.
It's a tight series and will propably go to 6 or 7 games. Show some respect to both sides.

They traded for Zadorov in November and got Lindholm before the ASG. Hard to say Zadorov is a deadline acquisition.

So if the oilers get beat out in the second round, does that mean it doesnโt work? This is a team who had how many first overall picks in the last so much years? If you donโt win the cup, doesnโt it really matter how far you go? No one remembers, only the teams who actually wins it all gets remembered. And last time I checked only one team wins the cup.
I like how after the Canucks dominating the Oilers the entire season, finishing at the top of their division people, and eliminating the Predators (one of the best teams in the league down the stretch) people are still surprised the Canucks are beating the Oilers. If Demko was playing it'd be 3-0 in the series and wouldn't even be particularly close. But everyone loves to talk about how the Oilers are not winning.
If marquee talent was a key success factor in the playoffs, the McDavid Oilers would have three cups by now. Vancouver is winning, and will likely win the series, because of better defence, better overall depth, and better goaltending, which are key success factors in the playoffs over having the top offensive forwards.

To say that the Oilers whiffed massively on the Nurse contract is a tremendous understatement. Holy cow! That WCF series against the Avs he got entirely exposed for being massively overpaid. But, that's what you get when not many players want to stay in Canada. The ones that do will demand big money, even if they're not worth it.

Hmmm maybe it has something to do with the fact that Skinner has the worst goaltending stats in the playoffs in the history of the NHL. Thatโs not an exaggeration he actually does. If the Oilers have even a 89% save percentage the series is 3-0 Edmonton.

Canucks have more depth, better goal tending, best coach in the league and they believe in the crest. They are playing without their vezina nominated goaltender and their supposed best player is doing nothing. Edmonton has to many over paid and underplayed. Nurse making more then the Norris Trophy soon to be winner Quinn Hughes. Makes no sense. Pay Buchard more. Pretty Amazing. Go Canucks Go!
Ian Cole has more goals for the oilers than any oiler player.
And nurse should have been ejected for hitting pettersson from behind in game 2 and then donkey punching him after that hit.

If NHL "super stars" want to win cups, they need to be aware that that $3m from 12-15 or 9-12 can be massively impactful to the team's chances of filling out the roster.
McDavid is worth $15m in the current market value, however does he need it? If he takes $12m or even $10m, that opens up a lot of scope for signing good GK and D. Will he notice that $3-6m in his bank account?! If you gave him a choice to pay $3m for a Cup ring…would he take it?
