Taken too young. Came back and worked even though he knew the writing was on wall. Was always a great personality for TSN. Will always remember waking up and watching sports Center with him and Hedger

anyone know the cause of death? This was pretty sudden.

  3. Fuck cancer, loved watching him on SC, he’ll be missed.

Damn I didn’t know he was sick. Stick tap Dutchy, you were a staple of my childhood.

  5. Damn this actually hits hard. One of the greats of the era. RIP

This really hits me, he was only a few years older than me. I remember watching him on one of the Edmonton channels back the 80s and early 90s. He always seemed like a class act.

Very sorry to hear this news. Condolences to his family.

Fuck this hits hard man. As someone who grew up watching TSN in the early 2000s, he was a big part of my childhood as I obsessively watched Sportscentre hockey highlights and cemented my fandom. Too young for sure.

RIP man. Thank you for being such a big part of my childhood grouping up watching Sportscentre on repeat during the day when I probably should have been in school. Legend forever

Oh, man – I had no idea he was ill. He was one of my favourites. My wife still remembers him barging onto the set with champagne when Canada got its first gold in 2010.

    Rest in peace, Darren.

  10. RIP Dutchy. I will always have fond memories of you sharing the latest sports news and highlights. You made your mark! Rest easy

  11. This fucking sad man, so fucking sad. Loved this guy, rip.

    Rest in piece, Dutchy.
This guy was a very prominent figure in my life growing up as a sports fan in Canada.

    Sad day
