The pendulum always swings too far in the other direction. Keefe was seen as too soft. Berube is a disciplinarian in the Babcock tradition. Marner will be his first target.
Not to say these head coaches would be available or would have gone to Toronto if an offer was made, but Quennville, Brind'Amour, Cooper are all better than Berube.
Now that they have chosen there new head coach in berube it’s his job this summer to fill out his staff and gets to know his players and time for treliving to put on his big boy work boots and make some trades UFA signings and ask marner and Tavares to wave there ntc and see what he can get back for them resign domi and bertuzzi bring up the kids in minten and Cowan he also needs to start trading off some of the marlie players for draft picks that will never play for them like neimela steeves abruzzesse etc
