Well with Nichushkin fuckin up again, we might be able to bring Drouin back. I know Nuke has a NMC, and a big ass contract with about 6 years remaining. So there’s two things at play here. The money and the amount, I’m pretty sure we can find someone who can use him and would be willing to pay him. Someone like NJ, BUF, Utah, etc.. (full disclosure I don’t know anyone else’s salary cap space or situation.) As far as the NMC, I’m pretty sure Sakic and Chris can talk him into waiving it.

Either they approach Nuke and go “Look. The boys are fuckin pissed at you and if you come back it’s going to be insanely toxic for you. They don’t want you here. Waive your NMC, we will find you a great organization where you can compete and get a fresh start. It’s best for everyone involved.” Or he comes back and has a big come to Jesus meeting with the entire organization. Makes his amends, and as apart of that agrees to live with like Landy or a team babysitter during the season to A.) Build trust within that locker room and B.) keep his ass in check.

To be honest, I don’t see that second scenario playing out. If it can work anywhere, it’s here with the guys that currently inhabit that locker room, but to be honest I think his time in Colorado (possibly the NHL) is done. Which makes me insanely sad. I like Nuke a lot, and wish things here were different. Dude always played the game the right way. Might have been a piece of shit off the ice, but truth be told I admired his work ethic on the ice and he was poised to have a big year next season.

  4. He deserves a raise but we can’t really give him one. See if he’ll do a 2-2.5m for 1 year deal to allow us to get out of salary cap issues.
