The Winnipeg Jets beat the Colorado Avalanche 7-6 in Game 1 to take a 1-0 series lead. This was a lot of fun to watch but Georgiev will be a main talking point after this game. Who impressed you the most in this game? Do you think the Avs should go to their other goalie?

Didn’t the Jets beat the Avalanche 7-0 last time?
Who did Avalanche have in goal when they won? Was it Kuemper?
Sadly, Hellebuyck was the goalie who had an off-game. The Avs let in 7 the last time they faced the Jets. In the regular season, the Avs only scored on the Jets a total of 4 goals in 3 games. The Jets scored 17 goals in 3 games. I'd say the Avs goalie performed as expected, while Hellebuyck had a rough game 🤷🏼
Super crazy game! Annunen is sick right now, so I'd go with Georgiev for Game 2 no matter what. The Jets offense really impressed me in this game, they didn't fall out of it for a second, no matter what happened. Hopefully we can come back home with some confidence, but that starts by following this one up with a strong puhsback. It's a weird feeling, because I know the Jets are a good team and got great shots, but at the same time Georgiev gave up goals that you can't give up in the playoffs. I'm hoping we reset, but if this happens again, we're going to have serious discussions on if Georgiev is the future here.
I know it was a brutal backhand pass by Georgiev, but how is that second one not on the guy who blindly put a big, fat backhand cheese pizza right in the slot, even if the forechecker got a piece of the pass?
This goes back to the time of the Nordiques. We would pack a team full of Sakic, Sundin, Nolan but we would have goalies like Sergie Milnikov and Ron Hextall.
I think for the jets it’s important that they stay out of the box the avs powerplay got them back into the game you can’t let mackinnon
And maker play against you with an extra man!
Unless Annunen is healthy, they'll need to go back to Georgiev. Their current backup is their 4th string, who has never played an NHK game and had brutal ECHL and AHK stats this season.
Georgiev should've saved goals #4, 6 and 7. Jets still score 4, defense needs to tighten things up even with Annunnen in net next game.
Georgiev has always been trash I’m a rangers fan so I remember Georgiev bad attitude and just not a good goalie him being an all star this year was an absolute disgrace
I don't know if Annunen can handle the pressure of playoffs yet, but if the Avs want to win this series, I don't think Georgiev is the guy… because, jeez! They manage to score 6 against Hellebuyck! and still lose
goals 2 and 3 werent georgievs fault but outshooting your opponent by more than 20 and losing is inexcusable especially when this was a one time thing scoring 7 on hellebuck

#2 Manson was the one who mishandled it and the shooter was WIDE open in the slot. AND he made a perfect shot.
#3 They are ping ponging 360 around the net with quick pass across the crease. No chance.
#4 Maybe I'll give you this one. It's a fast break, sometimes they go in.
#5 MacKinnon is defending the net for some reason. Softly. Jet makes a perfect shot off two posts.

Avs would've won the game with literally anyone else in net, they made hellebuyck look more than just human, they turned him into a sieve. They were dominating them everywhere else on the ice outside of their own blue paint, just need a few more saves.
cmon. i can fault Georgiev on 2. others were screen shots and playoff performances. you hope your goalie can make big saves but a good defense should have been more aggressive maybe make a couple of plays. I would continue with Georgiev
Georgie let in ONE more goal than the Vezina winner. Cut him some slack. Team didn't go out for a goalie at trade deadline for a reason. He'll bounce back. Give him at least 3 more chances. – a Jets fan.
Don't get me wrong I feel like the Avs defense played okay in front of Georgiev. Yes the defense had a few breakdowns but even with that at max there should have only been 4 goals against for the Avs.

I understand he's got to make a save here and there but tbf all of those goals were very high danger plays. Avs defense is more at fault than anything. Cross crease passes, 2 on 1's, one timers, low slot shots. I mean that's rough to stop

When you let in 7 and lose, the goalie will always be blamed. Granted, he’s been letting in a lot lately
And whew did Manson not fuck the Avs over as well. 1. Passing directly to Jets player for a goal. 2. 2 goals scored by passing through him and again through him into the goal while he stood there. He backed up slowly, wasn't looking at where the puck and never even moved his stick or legs when the puck when right around him twice. Holy shit he sucks.
I don’t know how you can say that Lowry’s first goal was controversial as afterwards they show a clip with white behind the goal line
So out of the 7goals 1st is not geo fault for sure great play by the jets the 2nd however is a complete mistake and mishandle by him the 3rd again good play by the jets so on 3 goals out of 7 I would say 1is goalie fault which should have been a clean clear behind the net so if you would take away the bad play by the goalie it would be 2-1 jets then I could have been 3-2 Avs the 4th goal again is not goalies fault defence man pushed him on there goalie so as of now on 4 goals to me it’s 3 not geogi fault 1 is 5th one is hard to say 6th one Georgi side to side is slow meaning he can’t read it clearly again this time it’s another goal he should have saved the 7th goal is more tight he should save it but it’s a really good pass and shot so on basic I would say 3-4 goals should have been saved and as a Avs Habs and Rangers fan to see georgi struggle is disappointing
Weird that nobody knows how turnovers can really fuck up the game majority of the goals that were were from turnovers it's basically impossible to react that fast
Yeah, when you score 6 goals and double the number of shots on goal over your opponent's SOG — you should probably win that game.
As an avs fan since thier existence, goergie had a really bad night. However I'm not surprised as the avs team defense the last few weeks leading up to this game has been TERRIBLE. Thier team defense was pretty bad in this game but believe it or not it was quite a bit better then the last few weeks so i cant say I'd blame anybody playing goalie for them to lose thier confidence which is what it looks like happend with Georgie. He looked scared out there n i dont blame him as the avs need to step it the F up on team defense. Simple stick checks when Mack could have put a body on him to manson passing to the slot is just not acceptable if you want to win a cup.
There's a reason they didnt pull him n thats because its been the avs team defense is the problem. If they dont slow the game down n focus on it, then justus may have a similar problem as the avs have let both of them down the last few weeks. Dont believe me, just go watch the goals n count how many of them were the goalirs fault the last few weeks of the reg season as youl need one hand on 30+ goals.
I saw Jets fans bragging about this one, I think they should be embarrassed they let in 6. That's not much better than letting in 7
No one here seems to be noticing that the Avs scored 6 on Buck and still lost. Blame Georgiev all you want, you’re not gonna simply outscore the Jets every night. The Avs need to start playing real hockey and not pond hockey
So there was that one goal the Avs didn't get because of the early whistle from the ref. Not that i matters now, but did he blow the whistle before the puck was really covered because he had his arm up for a delayed penalty and so the whistle goes when the netminder has possession but before he really has it put away? If so was he right to blow the whistle soon for that reason?
if i got a nickel for every time the jets scored 7 on the avalanche i would have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it weird that it happened

I could play game 2 for the Avs. I’ve never tried on pads before but I think it would be fun and I could probably save more shots than Georgiev

I gotta disagree about Connor's second at 3:24 , he is standing in between two defenders right in front of the net. Connor has no business getting that good of a shot off when he's sandwiched like that. Could Georgiev have made a nice save? Sure, but letting Kyle Connor into an area like that and not getting at least a stick on it is inexcusable.
Cale Makar is overrated and is not a good defensive player
1:37 Brutal puck handling by Georgiev? Bruh, Manson was the one that backhanded that puck behind him off of Iafallo's stick. Georgiev appropriately got that puck to Manson.
I'm not sure which save you think Georgiev should make. The Lowry goal right through him is the only softie I can identify.
Moving screens for goal 1? Eh, shit happens.
Manson gives it away (not Georgiev) for goal 2? Defensive gaffe.
Goal 3 is a Scheifele back door. Only person that really coulda done better was Manson in covering Scheifele so he's not so easily there.
Goal 5 is bad luck, broken play and Lowry blows right past MacK and Georgiev.
Goal 6 is a solid PPG play. Tip your hat to the Jets.
Goal 7? Georgiev should save that one from 5 ft? How bout the Avs 2nd line plus Manson and Johnson shouldn't get absolutely dog-walked by just 3 Jets forwards when they have all 5 skaters present? How bout that?
Georgiev is not your messiah, and neither was Kuemper. But if you think for a second those 7 goals were all on him, you're kidding yourself. 3 of those goals were high danger from the rest of the team fucking up in front of him. Only 1 was a legitimate softie.
This game was something. The pass in front of Georgiev was terrible, not even surprised that guy scored. He just ripped that kucklepuck, literately no aim needed. And then the 3 simple goals scored on him oh boy. Yes there was a "goal" that was called off for the avs. Could have made it a tie game. But that goal is so irrelevant to me though, 7 GOALS. AND WE STILL ALMOST BROUGHT IT BACK. I worry for the Avs simply off goal tending. Jets had 10 shots to our 23 yet had 5 goals. 😮💨😮💨

I guess letting in 6 goals is acceptable? The main differences between performances was one goal that barely crossed the line. Hellybuck played like shit too lol. I’m not a fan of either of these teams. Both should be worried about that goaltending.

It's gotta suck to have the best offense in the NHL and the worst goalies in playoffs. Winnipeg's backup is better than the Avs starter. If Gorgi plays like that again in game two, Winnipeg might just rest Helly till round 2
Yes they need to go with a backup he's been letting him way too many goals all year he's a horrible goaltender. I have no idea why Colorado didn't go out and get a goaltender at trade deadline this is ridiculous
You know, he was hung out to dry, while yes, he gave up some bad ones to me it looked like defense was lost, people left open, and no one was tied up. I say put the backup in if he wins, keep going with him, if he loses, go back to the starter, especially for that mental boost.
Georgie faced about 6 high danger shots, hellebuyck faced 11. Inexcusable from georgie. This is not about defense.
